I wonder if the tourney in Illinois will still occur with the lockdown in Chicago and possibly more in the state.

I wonder if the tourney in Illinois will still occur with the lockdown in Chicago and possibly more in the state. As of Friday, yes. www.news-gazette.com/sports/illinis-season-opener-set/article_542435c8-349f-5893-94a3-4a1ef6283736.htmlCHAMPAIGN — All Illinois men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood had been able to do when asked about his team’s schedule for the 2020-21 season the last few months was laugh. He didn’t have any concrete answers to give. The Illini’s schedule still isn’t complete. The Big Ten has yet to reveal its conference slate. And there’s still one opening for a nonconference game. But at least Illinois knows it will officially start the 2020-21 season on Nov. 25 against North Carolina A&T in a multi-team event at State Farm Center. “I think it’s going to be one of spontaneity,” Underwood said about the schedule. “What it looks like when we roll it out may be something completely different if we have games canceled.” Postponed or canceled games are a worry with the COVID-19 pandemic worsening across the country. Per Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, there are more than 20 Division I programs — including seven in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference — currently shut down because of positive COVID-19 cases with the season set to start in less than two weeks. For now, Illinois will move forward preparing for its season opener against North Carolina A&T. The Illini topped the Aggies 95-64 last December in Champaign. It marked the debut for A&T coach Will Jones, who replaced the suspended Jay Joyner. Jones led the Aggies to a 14-5 record in 2019-20 after taking over, and his interim-coach tag was removed when Joyner resigned in July.

You guys keep talking about who's playing where on our team but little is said about the impact of Coach Jones. This is really his first full year as head coach and from top to bottom, this is "his" team now. I love that we've got all this talent now but what really excites me is having him as coach of this talent. Let's hope everyone stays healthy this season.

The season opener against Illinois is as tough as it comes with Illi predicted to be in the final 4 in march. That said the team did really well last year and Illinois wanted a half court game not the transition ball that coach Jones likes. So lets not worry about what we can’t control and look forward to a new season.

It will be a tough opener but i don’t see us losing by 30 like last year. Coach Jones was literally thrown to wolves in that game last year.

The biggest challenge will be to contain their ability to dominate the offensive boards and get second chance points. Although they want to play a half court game, don't be tricked into thinking they can't keep up when we run. They key to victory will be whether we can create turnovers in the 2nd half and not be shut down by their halftime adjustments.

We need to do more to promote Kwe Parker. He should be the next HBCU superstar. Wont have to if he been working on that J. That and being in condition playing smart defense hitting free throws.Hope we don't promote him like we did Femi and how that turned out.
