since the MEAC is going to cancel fall sports does it mean the school wont charge athletic fees? I can't see a scenario where that is appropriate...
What will be the impact of the loss of revenue from student fees?

Coaches still have to be paid, scholarships still are obligated... Those fees will be charged.

Because the athletic department is still there. There are still expenses so there will still be fees.

Because the athletic department is still there. There are still expenses so there will still be fees. Exactly. Moreover, it is one of the required general fees by UNC-GA. Athletics is an auxiliary and without the fee, it would just not exist. What I could see happen is the fee is being reduced partially, but the fee will exist.

And let's not forget that we still have up to a dozen other teams that play in the winter and spring that still may have a chance to get at things.

If they cancel football there will definitely not be basketball

Unless there is a vaccine, the same factors that justified a cancellation of Fall sports will still exist in the Spring. Even if the numbers improve somewhat, you still are operating in the midst a global pandemic that can spike at any time.
By cancelling Fall sports yesterday, you officially set a precedent that it is unsafe to do pretty much anything until you have a vaccine.
And by next January, we will probably even has less money in our budget to do mass testing on student athletes due to the loss in revenues. And we will probably have less support staff in place to conduct those tests, because many will have been laid off.
Your best bet to play sports this school year ended yesterday. I think we should now just start preparing for Fall 2021.

All Students can use the athletic facilities to some degree and that facility staff needs to be compensated for the work that they do maintaining and developing the intramural programs . I always called the fees "Students activities fees" which to me are too entirely different things . Students activities fees sounds better and covers a more broader variety of activitie areas of student participation. Student Athletic fees only pigeonholed the direction of student financed activities . Students fees should never be used to Finance Athletic scholarships that's just my opinion because it should not the students responsibility to pay for another's students tuition .

Thriller the cities, States and and Nations that showed progress in combating this virus are the countries that showed the forthrightness to completely shut down there economy and all social interactions for a period of time to try to control and isolate the spread radius . Which has worked everywhere it has been interacted . The United States has to make a decision and not let our greed and misinformation get the best of us. One or Two months of total isolation , testing and inactivity could level off the community spread and isolate the movement of 19 because what we are doing is not working and is only making things worse.

I think they are looking at the student activity fee which is around $100. The full Athletic Fee for Central is still on the bill (again don't ask). They are all state schools, so that fee will be charged consistently.
