wow, i think i remember "scooby doo". if my memory serves me correctly, i think he was dark skinned, legit 7 foot, but couldn't play a "lick". don't remember his real name or what year he played... Scooby Doo was from SC lol. Yes he was a legit 7 footer that could not jump a lick .I don't think he played in one game . He got some minutes. Fans use to call for him to play. Reynolds recruited him. Paper had a big article about his shoe size. Special order. Incidentally, Warren Reynolds coached at liberty university for a few years.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think that might have been Dexter Boone. Stanley Parham had a big fro and sideburns too. I cant remember their hometowns. Stanley Parham from Eastern HS in DC was "wolf man"

James "scooby doo" Wilkins, I think he was Freshman in 1974, I don't think he was around after the 1976 season.

A few of these videos have popped up on YouTube recently. We thought club corbett is "lit" now, it was "popping" back in the early 90's... youtu.be/O9zNjBoNq88

Ok, so I just finished watching that clip and it ends with T up by 1 after hitting 1 of 2 free throws and a foul called on last second shot attempt.
So how did this thing end? By the way, it was a really exciting 10 minute clip. Corbett was rocking.

LOL. I remember that one. I was at the game. They waved off the foul call and ended the game (and ran the f out Corbett before the Howard coaches could get to them).

Well, on that day they were good (for us). People always claimed that we had them in our pockets since back then the meac office was in Greensboro. It may have been true to an extent.
When I tell you they huddled up for several minutes after that foul call and then looked around at the crowd and then waved it off, I do not exaggerate. There had already been a couple of fights in Corbett that evening and folk were ready to roll. It was a foul on a three point shot too. No way Howard wouldn't have won that game. Me and the fellas were like "we all know damn well that was a foul, but them refs knew better."

Oh wow, so MEAC officials have been bad for a while, huh? Lol. No, they had some outstanding officials during those days. A&T won that game by one point off of a missed shot. I will have to watch that game. Butch Beard was Howard's coach. I can't remember, but Jerry Eaves should have been his assistant.
