Hot off the presses.....they're dropping men's soccer, men's tennis and men's indoor track and field!! That's starting to cut a lil into the white meat......
If you all recall, ECU dropped men's and women's swimming, as well as men's and women's tennis....
It looks like many local schools really ain't:
Fully Budgeted for Sports

interesting that they are cutting only men’s sports I guess they are trying to avoid any backlash from the NCAA and Title IX . Or they are cutting the weakest non-revenue sports sports.

I guess they are trying to avoid any backlash from the NCAA and Title IX . Or they are cutting the weakest non-revenue sports sports. They are just retaining dollars for football from wherever they can get it. If cutting those sports allows the football team to fly to an away game or two, football wins that battle.

I am trying to figure how much you save cutting indoor track. The same person(s) will coach XC and or outdoor track . The athletes indoors are the same ones who will run outdoors and ran XC . Travel to VA Tech Liberty UNC and Winston can not be that expensive . Are there considerable administrative costs associated with each sport? Extra trainers insurance etc However, if some of the out door athletes are on indoor ( does that really exist) scholarships then perhaps there are some savings. I don't see it . To me, it almost like saying we will cut spring football practice. Help me out here Thanks in advance

They save about 30 scholarships plus travel. Maybe half million dollars plus.

The only thing that could be gained by cutting indoor track is the price of travel and excess to the on campus training table but everything else stays the same scholarship wise because no track scholarships are lost.

Don't forget about the elimination of all those coaches salaries plus their administrative staff and the added general non-specific line item support associated with those sports. This move bears out how much they have invested and will continue to invest in their football program. Football is king in Boone. Everything else is a far distant second.
