National Alumni Meeting is going on right now. It's being recorded. Trust me, he couldn't have been more clearer. Our Chancellor is also talking playing just a MEAC schedule. Wow!!! Thrilla... You may be inaccurate with your prediction. We will play a full 11 game schedule and have full stadium capacity in each home game. Martin is just reading you kids a bedtime story right now so you can all sleep easy tonight. In August, he will sit you back down and have the adult conversation.

This is May. Let's revisit this conversation in August. exactly! i don't think "anybody" can predict with certainty what the status of things will be almost 3 months from now, not even dr. martin. i think hilton hit the nail on the head when he stated in so many words that things can change rather quickly in the coming days and weeks. hilton very carefully chose his words and justifiably so. and btw, i've said this before, but whoever decided to hire spencer turkin as the new voice of aggie athletics knocked it out the park! that dude is the real deal, luv listening to his "play by play" calls... lt came from the Chancellor though

If the NCAA allows athletes are on campus in June, who knows ...

BTW: Please provide a link to the Chancellor's exact comments. link to Chancellor's message at Alumni MeetingHere it is. It cuts off his statements about meetings with the MEAC and Big South and how the Presidents and ADs will make the call. But, it does address the season and the social distancing.

Thanks man for the link.
Basically it sounds like he was just spit balling with no definite plans for now.
Seems like a lot of this will be contingent on federal and state social distancing guidelines - which will obviously come later this summer. It also doesn't sound like we would be prevented from playing any out of conference games if both us and the opposing schools open back up at the same time.

1st part of the Chancellor's MessageHere is the first part of the Chancellor's message. He goes into detail about how we handled COVID19 in the spring, the financial aspect and how are going to transition students back to campus in the fall (limited number of students). There is still a gap between both videos where he discusses that he and Hilton attend both MEAC and Big South meetings and what the rationale is for fall sports. Hopefully the University will put up the entire meeting for viewing. It was very informative.

However, I do understand and like the concept of trying to spread people around inside the stadium for social distancing purposes.
Dont know how feasible that would really be, but I can dig the idea.

What I’m saying is Chancellor Martin said these things during the Alumni Meeting last night. The Chancellor is on the UNC System committee over their Covid19 response and is getting info from the state and the Governor. As a result, our openings will be in line with the state’s reopening levels, including a level 4 that’s aligned with student move-in. Another telling thing is that students that elect online learning this year won’t pay any fees, which includes the $830 athletics fee.

We are going to be in the red on our athletic budget if there is reduced athletic fee collection.

I dont understand why you even give students the option. Either make it online only or have the students come back on campus.
Are we gonna make all our professors teach two different classes now - online and in person? Are we gonna hire additional staff?

We gotta do all that we can to keep kids enrolled in an environment where crap can hit the fan at any point. I guarantee you that there are parents that will be like, “f**k no!!! You’re staying home until this blows over.” Colleges all over the place will be dealing with lost tuition from enrollment drops. We must never forget that this virus can be a death sentence for the African-American community that NCAT serves. Now this stuff is fluid and things can change in a heartbeat but we can’t act like our President and rush this stuff.

The Chancellor addressed all of that last night. Some classes and labs have to be taught in person (Nurses who are in the clinical phase of their studies was an example that was mentioned). There are other students who live in rural areas without acceptable Wi-Fi. And there are students who want to stay on campus and because of home life. He also cited a survey from the UNC School system that showed that 90% of students didn't like online learning.

I didn’t hear this part but are they going to push upperclassmen to the apartments and leave the suites and Aggie Village to Freshman? Also, will those rooms be single occupancy or will they have double occupancy rooms?
