My vote has always been for Lamar Raynard ... but after watching this Alan Hooker game film, I have to admit that I may have been sleeping on Hooker's elite passing skills.
Is it time to revisit this discussion?
What does your top 3 look like?

Elsworth Turner Alan Hooker Connell Maynor/AFL/Body Double for Jamie Fox in Any Given Sunday When you look at the greatest QB in Aggie history for me you have to also look a the rules and the changes to the rules as to what a DB could and could not do to an receivers , Elsworth , Connell and Hooker had a tighter window to work against coverage wise. DB's could press cover all over the field. Reynard and Carter had the benefit of the changes in the coverage rules where the QB before them did not . That is why I try to stay out of the argument or comparison of who is the best quarterback .

Raynard Hooker Turner/Manor/Carter
Hooker hands down when it comes individual talent and athleticism as a before his time true dual threat. Raynard is number one in my book because when it comes to winning it’s hard to compare him. All these guys are great!!!

I've always thought Hooker was the best QB to ever suit up for A&T. I know Maynor and Turner won games but the best passing QB was Hooker.

i think raynard has got to be in the discussion, no question about that. i honestly don't know who the best was, it is hard to argue against hooker but elsworth was a badd dude too!
yeah, i think in no particular order, i'm going with; hooker, turner, maynor, and raynard. but best backup qb is "easily" kylil carter...

My order is:
Hooker - Super Duper Bad Man
E. Turner - Super Bad Man
C. Maynor - Very Good and Dependable In Clutch
Lamar Raynard (hold Records) But ...
C. Gordon - Very Good and a Very good Super Bowl Winner w/ Jets and Joe Namath
Stan "The Man" Jacobs (2) years - Bad Man - older U S Veteran player / tough and could pass / wore high top Johnny Unitas cleats
Carter - Winner, Dependable, Tough, Smart, Warrior

Raynard still for me. He won bigger games. Others may have had more talent though.

You guys forgot Paul Swan, Donald Boone, as well as others. You fellas are period selectors. You know who was good during your period and going forward.
*Turner was an excellent passer. Don't forget that. Smart player too. *Maynor was an excellent field General, could pass and was smart too. *Hooker was a very good passer and field general. *All were adequate runners *Folks have spent too much time questioning whether Raynard should have been the starter. Grudgingly giving him credit for all the games he won.

A lot of our qbs were shackled by the offenses the coaches ran at the time. From what I've seen Hooker thankfully had an offense that catered to his strengths and players that he gelled with that helped him, at least in 86. Raynard had a ridiculous abundance of riches his senior year.
I can't call it if you made everything else equal. It's not like we had any Steve McNair level cats running through here (or at least any that were allowed to be Steve McNair by the coaches.

Hooker would have had better numbers his senior year but his teammates had academic and legal issues....
