Aggie fans:
Looks like Coach Jones is recruiting and implementing the style of basketball that he wants to employ in AggieLand. At least one player, seldom-used rising sophomore Shayne Scruggs, has entered the transfer portal and committed to Liberty. Given what appears to be an emphasis on uptempo, physical style of play on both ends of the floor, are there any other players who may not be a good fit for his style? One I'm thinking may not be around is our 6'11 lad from England. Coach Joyner really liked the kid, and he got substantial minutes for a freshman, but I couldn't understand his wanting to do the Dirk Nowitski thing and pop out and shoot 3's instead of posting up and scoring down low. When Coach Jones got the keys, his playing time diminished significantly. VERY significantly IF we had a true post up player, we wouldn't have been hurt by opposing teams down low (Blount from NCCU on national TV). Do you all think Coach Jones will coach him up to be a reasonable big in the Big South, or will the lad get out of dodge?

Too early to tell. Harry’s gotta get better. If not, he won’t get much clock. I hope the college game will slow down for him his sophomore year. If not.... Shane Scruggs transferring isn’t new news; the best of luck to him.

He has an offer from WSSU, which is great for him & us. I'm sure we all wish him the best. Harry's a different case because he's a Mechanical Engineering major. I mentioned multiple times during the season that the most important thing for this season was for Harry to nail a solid GPA as a freshman. So Harry had a little less time to focus on personal workouts as the season progressed. Coach Joyner had Harry buried on the bench until the Wake game. Coach Jones was the coach when Harry hit three 3s at Illinois. He was the one who gave Harry the green light to shoot it when he had it. Harry lacked functional strength and awareness on defense. Both are areas I expect him to improve on from Year 1 to Year 2. Harry is a stretch player. We'd like him to be more functional on the block. But the most important thing Coach Jones can do is to build Harry around his strengths and let him be what he is.

I'd like to see us land another big that can play on the block to replace Haygood...PERIOD! He doesn't have to be taught and all of that but, can flat out play down low. If that happens, that opens up the whole court and you all know the rest...Dunk City!

we need harry "tremendously" this season! its rare for true freshmen to step in year one and have a major impact, even for bigs. hbcu's don't get the mcdonald's all americans who can step in and have major impact immediately. if we were to lose harry it would be devastating to this year's team, especially now that he has a year of experience under his belt.
yes, he has a few things to work on and improve, but so does cleveland who made the meac all freshman team. harry has to get "stronger" and learn to defend without fouling, but offensively he's already on point. i see harry as our "starting" 5 this season and if not, he should log a lot minutes...

I am sure coach is probably looking to sign 1 more post

Hey I think Harry has great "upside" potential for us. He just needs time to develop and progress. Think about this... last season he was a freshman that flew in from another country and had to get acclimated to Coach Joyner's snoozer style of ball. Then just before conference play starts there's a coaching change and we switch to the run and gun style. I think he will develop into a decent player with time. If he's willing to put in the time and work, I hope we are willing to develop him.

According to Twitter, we just signed Ahmad Hamilton, SG Southern Durham. He is a legacy player-Hamilton.

A player like Harry will be important for us once we hit the Big South.

And as you have stated coach Jones played to Harry's strengths given Harry confidence . Harry is just your standard European style big man that shoots the 3 but under Jones's coaching you could see his improvement on the block especially in his rebounding in defense . Your assessment is right on point . Coach Jones let Harry be Harry now it's time for Harry to reciprocate by dominating down low .

The first game Blount had 8 points 6 rebounds and in the second 18 points 12 rebounds. Maybe coach Jones should have played Harry more to stretch their defense . A lot of us are not used to seeing a big man play outside the ark other then in the NBA but for high schooler in Europe it is commonplace to see big men shooting threes . You could see a difference from the beginning of the season to the end in Harry's play down low thanks to coach Jones. I have know doubt that Jones will have Harry and the team ready for the BS .
