If I recall Dr. Humphrey was a decent leader and FAMU on a trajectory that would have propelled them beyond FSU. If I am correct the events of the theft of the Presidential election 2000 Bush v. Gore with the theft of the presidency resulted in the end of Dr. Humphrey's tenure and the involvement of the FAMU student body participation in the political process. Then too with the money factor under the table of recruitment of athletes to FAMU versus FSU as well as other similar situated HBCUs contributes to the demise including niggardly funding from the state legislatures. Well, Dr. Fred Humphries was definitely the best president that FAMU has had since at least the Civil Rights Era. He had vision and clout. Just like our own Dr. Harold Martin honed his skills at WSSU, Humphries was able to sharpen his skills at Tennessee State before going to Tallahassee. In Nashville, he had to fight off a sure-thing merger with UT-Nashville. In fact, he was able to turn the tide back on them...Tennessee State ended up absorbing UT-Nashville instead of the other-way-around.
Humphries' downfall was that he had too much influence with key Black leaders around the state for the White Establishment's taste, IMHO. The last straw was when FAMU was named Time Magazine's College of the Year. They had to find a way to get him outta there. Thanks for insight as I remember he was a Chemist if I am correct a man with vision similar to Drs Dowdy and Nance. these are the type of men that are missing at this crucial epoch. Men and women with vision who are able to upset the setup is what is needed and required. I did not know that part of the story well I be doggone. Perhaps during this reset period as some of the ecclesiasticals are saying we need to refocus once this plague ends and think anew and seek a new reality. The forces of history demands such from us.

You are right...Dr. Humphries was a chemist by trade. And, as you've said, strong visionary leaders with the same mindset as Dr. Dowdy, Dr. Nance, Dr. Luna Mishoe, Dr. Martin, Dr. Smith and others will be needed to propel us into the future when this plague is lifted.

Dr. Martin and others need to establish a strategy, now for what could be another Tuskeegee Experiment attempt, with all HBCU's, This Virus has been deemed a Pandemic, and the US as the epicenter. The majority deaths, are blacks, France and China have tried to get into Africa and make guinea pigs of its citizens, China is now reportedly putting Africans out of their apartments until they are tested. The common denominator in all of this is the vaccine, the question is what is in it! There is reportedly a 2025 population agenda, Gates and Clinton Foundation, and others are pushing for these vaccination to be mandatory, even to the degree of being allowed travel with or out of the US without them.

An additional factor is how states university systems are setup. In Florida, they did not separate the technical and engineering schools from the liberal arts schools, UF has everything and therefore under separate but equal FAMU was supposed to have everything, but after FSU transitioned from a women’s school the program snatching from FAMU started.

The Africans from Nigeria/Kenya have been kicked out of their living quarters and been forced to sleep on the streets saying that they are the carriers of COVID19. The Nigerian government has called the Chinese Ambassador on the carpet with a demand for redress immediately with a deadline of Tuesday April 14; while the government of Kenya has been tepid in its response. Those pictures are all over the internet and will piss you off particularly the one with a pregnant sister seeking medical treatment being denied. Now there will have to be an awakening of the youth of Africa replace these feeble minded neocolonial mindsets. Perhaps it will be the HBCUs that will save America in this new reality. For starters we will have to address those scientist/Frankensteinists who were complicit in the creation of this COVID19 virus with the arrests and imprisonment of them for life as well as the closure of all BL3 and BL4 laboratories immediately. So ultimately this may mean that the scientific departments of HBCUs will have to collaborate in the development on science for the sustenance of life rather than the destruction of life. This Malthusian philosophy which has impacted public policy must be eradicated. Basically HBCUs must become centers of enlightenment and scholarship to end the current culture of this thug mentality. Here I reference the readers to the last chapter of Frantz Fanon's book The Wretched of the Earth. Well " there is so much to do and so little time to do it" as Kwame Nkrumah observed when Ghana ended its colonial period.
