I know that I said to post PHOTOS here, but I was going through some boxes in my garage today and just ran across an ORIGINAL basketball boxscore from the Elizabeth City State at A&T game on January 6, 1970 in the old Greensboro Coliseum.
Our starters scored 101 of our 114 points that evening. The Vikings' Mike Gale (later starred with George Gervin and the San Antonio Spurs) torched us for 26 points and 19 rebounds, be we won, 114-96.
Elmer Austin led us with 26 points and 11 rebounds, followed by June Harris (25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists) and Bobby Parks (23 points and 9 rebounds).
(I don't know why I can' get it to show like a photo, but it is attached...you'll have to click on it.)1970 ECSU at NCAT MBB Boxscore2.pdf (719.57 KB)

Elizabeth City had a heck of a team with Philly Dawg Mike Gale, Israel Oliver and Carmichael. Our team was even better because we beat them in that game.
I remember when we played this same team down in Elizabeth City and lost by 2 points on a last second shot by Mike Gale "Philly Dawg". He and Daryl Cherry put on a show that night trading basket for basket throughout the entire game.
The only thing is, Philly Dawg had the last shot and Cherry did not.

Israel Oliver, with that huge 'fro, was my favorite opposing player to see while he was playing. And he could play!!

How does Jesse Jackson, Sr. stack up against the Aggie football legends? Never saw the field for Tee .
