If there was ever a Mount Rushmore of Aggie basketball greats, he would be in the discussion. One of my first childhood memories of going to a game in Corbett was watching A&T vs Alabama St in the mid 80's. The game was close at halftime.....but A&T put on a clinic in the 2nd half. I remember Binion dunking and Boyd pulling. Those 2 dudes together, with Jimmie Brown running the point, were lethal. I remember when Binion graduated, I just knew A&T was gonna finally get surpassed by Howard.....but Boyd and Brown kept the Aggie ship of dominance afloat in the MEAC.
As I child, I remember when WFMY used to give the scores at night, I'd be shocked to see a score come up on the screen.....with us losing. Winning was such the norm that it would throw me off-kilter when I saw on the TV or in the newspaper the next morning that we had lost.
Much respect to Eric Boyd for being a key player in guiding A&T to basketball dominance in the 80's.....gone but not forgotten. We gotta honor these dudes when they're among the living.

I just talked to Tim Abney, Corbett's top assistant coach before taking over the women's job. He was truly saddened to learn of this. Again, please post any funeral information that is released.

Eric Boyd Service will be April 1 at Grier Funeral Service 115 John McCarroll Ave Charlotte visitation from 2pm to 330. I hope the family reconsiders a public funeral and instead opts for a small private service with a public memorial scheduled for later. A public funeral helped to accelerate the spread of coronavirus in Albany, GA. This is not a joke folks....be safe: www.nytimes.com/2020/03/30/us/coronavirus-funeral-albany-georgia.html
