I thought Mo Smith came to A&T as a track man...sprinter type? At 240 lbs? Not saying he didn't but he was huge. I thought he came as a fullback.

No track for Mo... You should ask him to tell you about Hayes recruiting him...

I didn't mean he came to A&T to run track, but for some reason I thought he was on his high school track team. Mo Smith was not a fullback at A&T. He was quite fast. He was a running back with the Falcons.

He was fast as hell, especially for his size. I meant I thought he was recruited to play fullback in the winged T before we got rid of it (or right when we got rid of it).
Numberone, why don't you tell us about Hayes recruiting Mo?

Numberone, why don't you tell us about Hayes recruiting Mo? THIS.....would love to hear the story. And since were all on lock down in the house, I would love to hear a good Wild Bill Hayes story to pass the time.

Watched the Kent game yesterday.... had to contact Taylor and tell him again what a great game he played Trying to contact Smith on the track issue...don't think he ran at least I never saw him on the track or in a race. But, i will wait to hear from him. I think Space did have something going on in which he tired to improve the speed of FB players. But they were not running track

I googled it and lo and behold... ncataggies.com/news/2018/9/5/211770737.aspxWho knew? I watched the 1997 Circle City classic where we ran the ball down Tennessee State's throat with Basnight, Shufford, and Purkett (who ended up playing db) as well as Mo. Mo was primarily blocking but you could see it then. With all them backs running it really wasn't even fair, but we couldn't stop their passing game so that made it kinda fair.

Yes, I had better start listening to Saabman. Smith said he ran 1998-99 indoor season...UNCH -Liberty-Duke.. thought I'd look up Cohen Cohen ran indoors as well 6.74/60 was his PR and 21.84/200; at the MEAC Indoor Championships he was 5th in 6.86/60 and 5th in 200 (22.06) Outdoors he ran 10.78/100 and 21.84/200 at the Aggie Relays he was 15th and 10th place respectively. Kris Gardin DNR at NCAT but had 10.94/100 in HS

Thanks you for refreshing a lot of memories. I knew he ran track. I also knew he was a running back and not a fullback at A&T. That's what the Falcons saw, speed and raw power. He almost won that game for us against Elon in Burlington's high school stadium. Hayes and his inept defense/coaching lost that game ...#@%! .

He was playing fullback in the Tennessee State game in '97. Of course the fullback in the wing t is just another running back (usually). They didn't run him much at all in that game. They should have. I think we didn't change to the multiple offense for another year or two, and that's when he was switched to running back and Eric Farmer was fullback.
We got destroyed by Elon at Burlington High School 34-7, and we scored last. We ain't come close to winning that game at any point. I remember when we scored to this day, because me and my boys were already in the parking lot lol. I will call Hayes out for claiming we hadn't played against the wishbone (that's what Elon was running then) in 20 years when we played against the Citadel six years prior and they ran it. But Elon simply had better athletes across the board at that time even though we had a number of guys go on to the pros.

To take your mind off of it hit youtube and search for 1997 Circle City Classic. Even though we ran like six plays over and over the running game was something.
