MEAC Spring Football Glance By CRAIG HALEY Stats Perform FCS Senior Editor
(Stats Perform) - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference race was a bit awkward last season with Florida A&M posting the best record against conference foes yet ineligible for the title due to NCAA APR sanctions. There's nothing awkward this season because the race should be terrific with Florida A&M eligible again and expected to be smack in the middle of it. FAMU, reigning power North Carolina A&T and South Carolina State form the top trio in the nine-team conference. It is A&T's final season in the conference before it departs to the Big South next year. For the rest of the story:www.fcs.football/cfb/story.asp?i=20200306091200568368304

It will all boil down to qb play for us, which is nothing new. We've had some studs play the qb position for us the last 4-5 years. My concern is we finally seeing a drop-off in qb play. If not, we will beat FAMU and SCSU...if we do, God help us.

Raynard and Carter spoiled us. This could be a scary year for us.

What would make you comfortable other than a real game? i'd like one or more of our qb's to demonstrate that he's capable of "countering" anything an opposing defense like ndsu or liberty can throw at him including all "blitzes". i'd like to see a qb who does not get "rattled" in big moments such as in the ndsu game, the cb, or fbs games. i'd like to see that he's capable of reading defenses and able to "quickly and efficiently" go thru all of his progressions while in the pocket without having "happy feet" and on top of that, throw an "accurate" pass whether it be short, medium, or long range passes. i'd like to see a qb who does not turn the friggin' ball over. notice i didn't even mention the ability to "run", but that would be a major big time plus if he can do everything else as well. i know spring ball is non-contact for the qb's, but if any of our qb's can demonstrate the ability to do all of those things, then i'd feel comfortable...

One thing I think is the case: We've NEVER had this kind of QB pedigree (2 & 3 star HS rated QBs). Based on what I've heard from several players, Jalen is a heck of a player and if Kingsley does some correcting of his footwork and throwing motion, he'll be in the running. All that said, I think we're gonna be much better than some/many believe!

Did we forget that Jalen smoked some team (I forgot who it was ) last year? And it was Carter that many was doubting...even up to the Celebration Bowl...where He smoked Alcorn.
Man, I cant wait to see this team.

Any plans yet about having closed scrimmages or a Spring Game closed to the Public?

yeah but those teams did not "scout" fowler and draw up game plans to attack his weaknesses. totally different story when you're the starter...
