We got a chance to get second but we need Bethune and Morgan to beat Norfolk. I think this could happen. I would love for the girls to stay in the 2nd and 3 place and wait to play Bethune in finals of the tourney. Right now we need to take one game at a time with UMES

Jasmen Walton coming back made a huge difference.

Of course it did.....she's the best all-around player on our team now.

Walton is just a sophomore but this will eventually be her team. It’s a lot to ask as does not appear to be her demanor but she will need to lead this team. The thing I appreciate most is her basketball IQ!

Walton is just a sophomore but this will eventually be her team. ...but whose team is it right now. Who will be the undeniable leader on the floor going into the tournament? I'm not sure.

I wasn't gonna comment on this a few days ago......but, to me, there's only one clear leader on this team......and that's Coach Rob. I've been thinking about this for a while. I've never seen a team member who gets the team together, after a foul or after a time out, to make sure everyone is on the same page about assignments/responsibilities. I haven't seen any of the seniors do this at all.
If you look - every time when something goes halfway wrong, the first thing the players do is turn to Coach Rob. After a foul - they look at Coach Rob. After a turnover - they look at Coach Rob. When an offensive set or defensive set needs to be called - they look at Coach Rob.
I'm not saying this to denigrate Coach Rob at all......but it does make me think that if we have a senior-laden team whose automatic response is to look his way for virtually every decision, you can only surmise what a younger Aggie team will do.
Personally, this strikes me as a team (despite its senior-laden makeup) that is still somewhat uncertain of itself. To me, when you've been in a system for 3-4 years, a key player doesn't have to always look to the bench for instruction....but this team does.....for virtually everything.
If anyone disagrees, say so......I just haven't seen that from other teams, irrespective of where they are in the MEAC standings.

I have yet to see obvious on floor leadership either. That’s not to say it doesn’t exist, it’s just not clear who it is to me. Lessears was more active last year in that regard but not so much this year. Who? Who naturally directs traffic, talk it up, encourages teammates all the time? Cinia does some of those things sometimes.

i dunno. i don't think a player necessarily has to be very vocal as a leader. i once had a player on my team who's nature was to be quiet and shy. but the way she played gave her teammates "confidence" and set an example, it motivated them without her having to say a single word.
now, i don't know if mccray is that way. but to me, the way she plays often sets the tone for the rest of the team, especially when her outside shot is falling. but again, that's just me...
