The title of the above linked article is Ranking the FCS conferences in 2019 It also only refers to football. I wonder is there a more recent ranking we could go by.

Look what I found... As far as just football goes, this past year the conferences rated as follows: realtimerpi.com/college_football/ncaaf_conf_Men.htmlThe BS ranks above the MEAC, the Northeast, and the Southern conference. realtimerpi.com/rpi_conf_Men.htmlMen's basketball, the meac is 32nd and DEAD LAST, the BS is 26th. realtimerpi.com/rpi_conf_Women.htmlWomen's bball, the meac is 29th, the BS is 23rd I'm sure there are other rankings out there that differ, but I'm also sure none of them would find the meac ahead of the BS. And that's with us holding the meac up in some sports. We can only improve with the financial plusses and exposure that come with the move. If we quit playing checkers and start playing chess we can see the whole board open up.

This is one of the mindset changes that leaders like Martin force. From the time he arrived he wasn’t content with being A&T being a good HBCU. He wanted us to be one of the best schools in the state and in the region. When putting together his plans and looking at “peer” schools he didn’t just use other HBCUs. The same thinking and planning will need to be in place as we make this transition. Our facilities will need upgrades, as will coaching and support staff. If we can be one of the best programs in the Big South then we can be one of the best in the country...and if we are one of the best in the country than we will be one of the best amongst HBCUs. Our athletic facilities are long over due for upgrades. We aren’t in bad shape...but a few strategic upgrades will give us some of that best around the region for mid major programs and that’s the type of selling point we need to attract the coaches and players needed to fuel our continued success. Agreed.

However, their ratings are strikingly similar.

The title of the above linked article is Ranking the FCS conferences in 2019 It also only refers to football. I wonder is there a more recent ranking we could go by. well, the poster stated that if we could be the best in the big south conference, then we could be the best in the country. well, i hardly think the poster was talking about basketball, because that's not even debatable given our resources. so who cares if the big south is 26th out of 32 conferences in basketball, it still won't catapult our men's basketball team to become "the best in the country", nor our women. and that's the point i was making. how does the big south conference rank in track and field? well, it really doesn't matter because our men and women are already ranked higher than the bs conference overall. besides, conference affiliation doesn't dictate the success or failure of its members. the "individual schools" dictate their own success or failure. so this idea that "athletic success" is dictated by conference association is a myth at best. no sports will get better or worse at a&t unless our own administration takes the necessary actions to do so regardless of conference affiliation. joining another conference in and of itself ain't gone do "jack" to advance our athletics...

And if the Big South is propelling members that are interested to better conferences as has been documented, I’ll take a small piece of some of that funky stuff.
Facts and hips don’t lie.
