Have just read a report that tomorrow the Aggies will announce move from MEAC to Big South conference. Excuse my ignorance, I'm from the UK (Harry's mum) but is this a good move? what will it mean?

Welcome to the fan forum and I'm glad to see Harry and the rest of the basketball team in first place. Now to your question, the first thing it means is we have to develop rivalries with a new set of teams and fans from various Big South schools. A&T will not be able to participate in the Celebration Bowl and may lose some revenue during this transition time as some of the fans will no longer be interested in going to A&T games.
Stay tuned for other impacts from this move to the Big South Conference.

Hi Shaz... and welcome to the board! Change is always a challenge. But there are a lot of positives to this move, which will take effect in July 2021. The Big South has a pretty robust Digital Sports Network across all sports that currently does not exist in the MEAC. You'll be able to catch just about every game on every A&T sport on this network. bigsouthsports.com/watch/?Archive=7569With a school like A&T entering the Big South, we will definitely increase the profile for the Big South across sports. And there's more potential for revenue to our school because of this in conjunction with the digital network. With our current style change/success in Men's Basketball, I believe we will be very competitive in the Big South for hoops. More specifically, I believe Harry will thrive more in the Big South as a junior & senior than in the MEAC based on styles of play and types of players recruited by Big South schools. Another aspect... most of the Big South schools are private, liberal arts institutions. A&T is a strong public STEM-based institution. So we provide an academic diversity that the Big South desperately needs in addition to athletic diversity. It's a big part of why they've been courting us for some time. Just my thoughts. And again... welcome!

Thank you for your welcome and your replies. It is all very new and interesting and hopefully the move will be a positive one. The digital sports network sounds good, at the moment it can be a bit of a panic trying to work out how/if we're going to be able to watch the games. I don't know what the Scottish Aggies fans are going to do with their Saturday nights once the season ends!

I believe our alumni nationwide will warm up to the digital network fairly quickly. I just got a new item in for gamedays as well. We're looking forward to the future!

dgso, We cool and all, but please stop talking to Shaz like you represent ALL of A&T. You clearly DO NOT.

It's a change and with any change there are questions and anxiety. For the fans the change means new riveries and traveling to different opponents. We're "familiar" with the teams and schools in the MEAC conference and now we have to adjust to new opponents. And there's a shared culture with the teams in the old conference.
But this change probably means very little for the student athletes. They suit up and play no matter which conference we're in. It will mean less travel because the majority of the new conference teams are just a few hours drive away. Less time for our players on the team bus traveling to games.
We'll learn more about the impact of this change over the coming months.

No more men’s & women’s double headers once we make the move. That's really disappointing. I lived for those double-headers during basketball season. When the schedules dropped, I was on 'em - marking my calendar and hoping for good weather. There was nothing better than a road trip to Baltimore, Princess Anne, Dover, Hampton or Norfolk to watch the men and women play (especially when it was a sweep). I get it, change is inevitable. Memories...
