I posed this question to Aggie One and the guys at the scrimage today. Who do you think was the better pound for pound player during their career at A&T: Darryl Klugh or Curtis Deloatch? Klugh was probably the most intelligent player we ever had in the secondary and led the team to the 1999 MEAC title. Deloatch was probably the most talented player we ever had in the secondary and led the team to the 2003 title. So who is your choice: or

Thrilla, I believe Klugh's name came up Thursday night. I agree that Klugh was the most intelligent player we ever had in the defensive backfield. With out a doubt, Deloatch had the most natural ability, which caused him to take a few plays off, particularly his senior year. I give Klugh the nod...he was the most consistent player we ever had at safety.

I can't make up my mind.
I'm thinking about Klugh's title game game heriocs against FAMU in 1999, versus Deloatch's championship performance against Hampton in 2003.
Damn this is a tough one!

Deloatch made some bonehead plays that stick out in my memory that take the edge away from him. Of course on the other hand he's got an NCAA record or two for returns that make up for the boneheaded plays. Add to that the fact that he was a real impact player for about 2 and a half to three and a quarter of his years at A&T. I don't know how long Klugh was an impact player cause I only remember the second half of his junior year and his senior year.
Tough one, but with the return ability I'd have to give it to Deloatch. What's funny is I started this post all ready to give it to Klugh.

I have to give a strong nod to Curt Dee, he always showed up with atleast one big play. During the Klugh era, Dwaine Carpenter was the big play maker. But I gotta say that the 99' defense was something speacial.
