omg!! before this past weekend, i was last on campus for ghoe 2019 and the site for the new engineering building was nothing much more than a bunch of "dirt". 3 or 4 months later i return to campus this past weekend for the nsu game and i was literally "stunned" to see the foundation and 4 stories of construction beams already in place for the new engineering building. man, that building is gonna be "huge"!! i first saw it from the exxon gas station on east market street while getting gas and it looks like it gonna be every bit as big as our new student center. omg, that building is gonna be "enormous"!! comes all the way out to the street just like our new student center. wow, i knew we were building it but i just didn't expect so much progress to have taken place since ghoe. literally stunning! no wonder our enrollment keeps growing and growing...

Does anyone know if they will keep McNair's name on the new building? I've always felt having a famous astronaut associated with the engineering department was a great look for the school.

I'm sure they will....famous astronauts who are alumni of your institution don't get their names taken off buildings.

The McNair building is not going anywhere and will remain open. The new building (pictured below) is the Engineering Research & Innovation Center (ERIC)

It is rare to have a building's name removed or changed, as you know from your time as a student. Do you know how many engineering buildings there are on campus and their names?

.....That thing is gonna be pretty. I'm so proud of my school, I don't know what to do. .....on a side note, I've been in and around the new student union multiple times during the day, and it's lovely. However, I drove by that thing this weekend after the Norfolk game, with all the lights hitting it. That thing is absolutely beautiful at night.
It's become even more glaringly obvious to me that A&T is clearly doing too much!!!

I want something to put in my office.

I was thinking they were moving the engineering department and would use the old building for something else. Wouldn't hurt to put his name on the new building as well, name it Mcnair II lol

If you are in the Maryland area, the exact same building(Bigger) has been built at College Park. You can see it from route 1.

You can see it from route 1. wow, i live near college park. i'll have to check it out. funny how some of the same building designs exist on more than one campus. george washington univ. in dc has the exact same basketball arena as our corbett sports center albeit they've added more enhancements indoors than we have. but its the exact same building....

BIG, but not as big as the student center. you might be right, but it'll be close. i'd be interested to know the square footage of both buildings for comparison because if i'm not mistaken, i don't think the new student center has 4 stories like the new engineering building will...
