I was talking to a friend about this year's team drastic turnaround, and how the coaching styles are polar opposites. While explaining how we're playing now, so wide open and above the rim, he made a great comparison. The 2013 FGCU tourney team (Dunk City) and I was like wow they are playing exactly like that squad, lob city, with athletes up and down the top 8, with a PG that could create for those high fliers. About 40 percent of our offense is alley oops. As you know I know almost nothing about basketball. But I do know that Phi Slamma Jamma dunked a lot because it was a high percentage shot and Florida Gulf Coast made the Sweet Sixteen by dunking on folk all day. I figure let the two guys on the team that can shoot shoot regardless of what common basketball sense dictates they should be and let the rest dunk the ball like they interrogating a terrorist. Yep.

My main point in all of this is that this team makes me want to travel and wild-out with them. Man I miss that! Just so you don't forget, that was 40 years ago. LOL Lol! Yes! This time I won’t be broke during the trip. Lol

He's willing to mix it up. NSU/NCCU is an ESPNU national game. NCCU knows how to get hype for those. The biggest flaw with Norfolk is that they don't have an inside scoring threat. So they have to defend AND hit shots from the perimeter. NCCU has arguably the best post player in the conference in Jibri Blount. We'll see how they match. I'll give credit to Coach Robert Jones on the big win over Alabama in the NIT. But he's 0 for 6 for winning MEAC championships as a Head Coach while basically playing home games in Norfolk. To me, the fact that he's sending crytic tweets in response may be saying more than Dre's chirping.

Between the video and the message, Coach is trying to reach his Norfolk players another way; via the public. It's going to be an interesting case of psychology moving forward.

He can't win a tournament that ain't even 5 minutes away from his campus. The MEAC tournament should be the "Norfolk Invitational" if he knew how to handle pressure. When it was in the G'boro Coliseum back in the 80's, it was virtually called the Aggie Invitational because we won the thing all the time. When you have a good program and a tournament is in your backyard......and you can't even win 1 of them.......THAT'S ON YOU PLAYA!!!

Yep no inside presence I will give them credit that their guards can create space and get their jumper off and the young kid Jenkins (freshman) gone be really good. Whitley is load to handle but with no inside presence our post can slide over and keep him out of the lane for the most part. Our offence is what get folks in trouble when you got one thing on lock we hit you with another. If Norfolk backed down in the paint Dre killed from the outside; when they extended their D we went over the top. Plus we do about as good of a job as I have sen with that 1-2-2 half court trap. Our guys are very discipline in that trap most team over extend the trap and get in foul trouble or trap breaks down. We use it for its purpose to disrupt the opponents offence!!
