man, i hate to say it but some of our fans are cry babies! geeesh, its just one friggin' game! and a friggin' "road game" at that! omg, it ain't the end of the world and no, the "sky ain't falling". wow, folk just freak out over a road game that we didn't play our best ball in as if the season is now over. i don't think some people understand how much "pressure" it is to have a bull's eye on your back in each and every meac game you play, especially when on the road. when you don't have a bull's eye on your back, sometimes you can afford to play just your average game and still win. can't do that when you have a bull's eye on your back, you've got to bring your "best game" in every game against average or above competition. the season ain't over, we still control our own destiny. it is not the end of the world. we lost one of our best players and it takes time to redefine your rotation and get over cc's injury "mentally"... ....I was expecting this response. "There's a bullseye on your back" talk - that's legitimate. "You have to bring your best game against average or above competition" - that's legitimate. Here's the part where you and others need to be concerned. Morgan didn't play their A, B, or C game to beat us. These were Morgan's stats:2-11 3-pters (18%) 10-26 FTs (38%) 15-52 FGs (28%) 16 turnovers
Let's keep it real for a minute. If someone told you our opposition would have such stats, in conjunction with only scoring 42 points, you'd take your chances 100 out of 100 times that we'd win. We didn't win.....we lost to a team that played very bad basketball, but we outdid them by playing even worse. The CC Foy effect: She can handle the ball, she gets steals, she gets assists, she gets easy buckets, she helps us get into a better transition game. I'm hoping for the best, but fear the worst.... With all of that being said, this is a watershed moment. All the things that I envisioned for this team (ie. MEAC regular season and tournament title, NCAA victory)......are in serious jeopardy. There are some young ladies on this team that are gonna have to mature quickly. Our seniors on the team are gonna have to do more to help our younger core along. Our coaching staff is gonna have to work even harder on figuring out ways to compensate for a likely huge loss. Are all of these things possible - yes. However, there is LESS THAN ZERO ROOM FOR ERROR. One last thing - of our 30 turnovers, 20 were committed by our seniors. That is unacceptable. The senior core is what has got us to this point. They have got to step their games up to get us through some very murky waters. I'll be at Corbett Saturday to cheer them on as they play our toughest MEAC competition to date. I hope we can regroup and be 100x better than we were last night.

Against Coppin we had a season low of 8 to's 2 days later 30 to's. Both teams played horrible yesterday we just happen to lose. My conclusions is we all know we are capable of playing 10 times better. Morgan could not beat Clemson or VCU if they played 10 games. I dont think Morgan is capable of playing any better than they did yesterday against us.

No one has answered the question about CC. What type of injury does she have? Will she be out long term or not? What is the secrecy about this injury that no one will disclose what it is?

I would assume its probably gone take a day or 2 as she probably needs a MRI and then evaluated by a ortho / sports medicine dr.

We lost a game that ended our long winning streak. It may be a blessing in disguise. We were undefeated in the conference last year and could not even win the MEAC Tournament.
Teams are going to have games like this. It was bad and looked bad but at least it was not against a top tier team.
This loss should bring us back to reality and have us ready for Bethune this weekend.

It amazing we had over 50 rebounds and couldn't score more than 42 points. I think we had about 25 offensive rebounds and still lost. Well on to Bethune.

I dont think Morgan is capable of playing any better than they did yesterday against us. I think you're missing a huge point. Vs Clemson....CC had 13 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists vs VCU....CC had 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals Does it really matter what Morgan St can/can't do vs Clemson or VCU? That's irrelevant. Without CC, WE don't beat Clemson or VCU. I'm not trying to be a "CC cheerleader," but I go to the games. Her fingerprints are on virtually every game we play, and it's usually very positive. The coaching staff has its work cut out for itself, in preparing for BCU on Saturday. I honestly cannot think of a bigger in-season loss for Lady Aggies Basketball than.....dare I say.....EVER. Maybe there was a player back in the 80's/90's/early 2000's that got hurt, but man, this is a great loss that I don't think many (not all) people realize. The coach has his work cut out for him. I hope he and the team are up to the task to keep Lady Aggie basketball moving forward....

NSS
So this is their first game without CC and when they don’t play well the wheels have come off ?
Ole school is correct the emotional effect for the ladies yesterday was probably bigger than the game itself. I have a daughter that plays AAU basketball we been to tournaments all over US. When things like this happen it takes the ladies a minute to rebound get back on task.

Let me be clear (again)....I really do believe our chances of winning the conference, getting an NCAA bid and even winning a tournament game have taken a SEVERE HIT. Have the wheels come off? Depends on what you define as "wheels?" Are we talking about 23-inch wheels (MEAC title/NCAA birth/NCAA victory) or 18-inch wheels (20-win season without an MEAC title)? I'm talking about 23's.....
Just to clarify - CC only played 5 minutes in the game vs Coppin. They essentially played the whole game vs Coppin without her. We just were "fortunate" (nothing good about a knee/leg injury) that it happened against Coppin because Coppin may have one of the worst women's basketball teams in the nation. But as soon as the competition stepped up 2 days later, the team struggled. Morgan will not finish as one of the best teams in the MEAC.....but we struggled against them nonetheless.
Whether a player hurts herself or not.....how can you explain the rest of the team missing 7 out of 23 FTs? How do you explain their 30 turnovers? These issues cannot be solely explained away by an "emotional effect." I'm not doubting at all that there has been one.....but what is the team gonna do about it? Let's hope it's something good.

Your rational makes sense but unless you have / had a daughter etc that has played beyond rec league its just how it is. Even though CC played 5 minutes she came back out and was sitting behind the bench that matters with young ladies. Against Morgan she was not present at all so that was there first game without CC.
Look for Deja Winters to really step it up we can also go really big by playing Alexis, Jones-Pack, and Hill all on the floor at the same time.

This sounds like you have no problem excepting mediocrity. If you are not striving to be the best then there is no need to keep score. The difference between the top teams in ladies D1 basketball and our team is not that great. We have the size to play with anyone in the country as evident by our game against South Carolina. I understand it is just one early game but you got to win he games that you are suppose to if you have hope of playing late in March. This could be a very good team but you cannot except lackadaisical play. Winters,McCray, Boyd, Wilson and Jones have to stepup and pickup the slack. Each of us ,I hope only want the best for all our teams.

Clarification - CC was on the bench with the team at Morgan, wearing a gray warmup suit. I like Deja Winters, but she is mostly a (very good) shooter. I'm not saying that she can't, but she doesn't dribble and drive like Foy. She moves within the scheme of the offensive set to get open and shoot. Her game will have to get better, as well as everyone else's. Pieces will have to be picked up by everyone.
