there are "roughly" 300,000 college football players in america. out of 300,000 college football players in america, how many have "died" or been "hospitalized" due to covid? and what "percentage" of college football players have "died" or been "hospitalized" due to covid? now, compare that to the number of college football players that have "died" or been "hospitalized" due to normal college football related injuries? how much you wanna bet that "significantly more" college football players have "died" or been "hospitalized" due to normal college football related injuries than covid-19?

The wildcard is that all of this conversation is before the majority of kids have even put on pads. What happens then? We are operating in an environment of fear, some warranted, some not. Fear is the most powerful human emotion and it's taking a toll on everyone. When human emotions are in play, traditional risk/reward arguments go out the window many times. Perception always wins.

Based upon the trajectory of this virus it is ridiculous to entertain the idea of fall sports. In fact all schools shouold be online until Spring 2021. There is no current national strategy to curtail this virus rather it is a politicalization of what is in fact a public health problem. This virus is real and should not be dismissed lightly. Basically this virus is a crime against humanity. Wear mask gloves watch your diet and stay safe protect your family and avoid the bs cause when SHTF it is a new day play time is over.

It only takes one of "our" players to die or get extremely ill to set our football program back a few years. I'm not "guaranteeing" that any of our football players will get really sick and die...I'm just saying the risk is greater than the reward during this pandemic. If we have one player that get sick and has major health issues or dies, there will be close review of our testing procedures. And I'm betting we don't have the funds needed to do weekly testing of the entire team so that's going to look bad.

And I'm betting we don't have the funds needed to do weekly testing of the entire team so that's going to look bad. i hear ya. but playing football by its very nature is a major "risk" to the health and physical well being of the players. don't need covid-19 to die from playing football and definitely don't need covid-19 to be hospitalized from playing football. so my only point is that "zero" college football players that i know of (out of about 300k nationwide) have died or been hospitalized due to covid. all i'm trying to do is provide "balance and perspective". yes, covid-19 is very serious. yes, college aged football players can "potentially" die from covid, even though i know of "zero" who have done so or been hospitalized. but "statistically", college football players have a better chance of dying from a "homicide" or cancer than from covid-19. but to state that a college football player will "die" from covid is quite a "stretch" considering no active college or pro athletes (that i know of) have done so. now, if you said to me that someone over the age of 70 who has underlying health conditions will die from covid, i'd be more inclined to believe that...

OSA, please take a chill pill. You sound worse than Trump. You don't know if a player has died or not. A lot of stuff get covered up. Besides, the season has not started yet if at all. Anything can happen before, during and after the football season. So quit trying to be a doctor, scientist, vood doo doctor and fortune teller. You don't know the real facts only what "they" have told you. So quit believing everything you hear or read.
Chill out man. Damn!!

A&T along with many other schools will not be playing football this fall. Get use to that. There is no one on this site that has the expertise to continue the discussion on this topic. No one on this site knows anything about the deaths or who can get the virus or what age group can be affected. One thing that we do know, is that it will kill people at any age.
For those who want to see, have or participate in the sport can contact, A&T and ask if they will rent to you the practice field and some equipment to play a contact football game. However, like the "fake president" required for his campaign appearance, you must sign waivers that no legal action will be taken against A&T by the participants, if they contract the virus or receive any injuries. They will also be responsible for taking care of any trash and leave the field in good condition. Participants are responsible the health and welfare of all spectators.

I think the biggest variable will be what happens after the first games are played. Does it spike etc. It's hard for me to imagine playing football responsibly and safely without some type of bubble on every campus that is participating this fall.
