I think what's being missed here is something Broadway referred to on many occasions. He said he would let all current players know that when he recruits hes looking for someone better than what he currently has, that he wanted someone that could take a players job. Why would I want someone not as good as what I already have.
His players knew they had to constantly compete to stay on the field. Truth be told he was trying to run this program like a P5 team. Which we kind of do right now. The fact that we have so many players here already on campus that aren't forced into action is a far cry from probably what most MEAC programs can say. We can stash players away for seasoning and physical maturing and we can do this because of the promise of being in the title chase once your number is called. Other MEAC teams probably lose a lot of guys to the CIAA and SIAC because they dont play immediately.
Folks we are in a really good place and clearly this staff knows what they're doing.
We'll find out next season if we have taken that next step where we are almost plug and play like an Alabama or Oklahoma, when Fowler most likely gets the keys to the Ferrari. If he has success than your talking about 3 QBs in 5 years that have put up decent numbers.
From what I’ve seen, Fowler can definitely do the job. We will just have to actually show patience and not run off at the mouth at the first signs of adversity. But man, as long as teams commit to stopping the run at all costs, Fowler or Ifedi will have a chance to shine like Carter did in the Celebration Bowl.
If Fowler can’t handle competition with Newton a MEAC MVP I wouldn’t want him leading my offense!
