hail, i've never been impressed by chauncey. i would've picked that freshman buzzard over chauncey just like oliver did. i think noah is a better runner and as good a passer as fowler, but i wouldn't wanna bring in a qb for only one year. i'd take newton over fowler though, mainly because newton has a lot more experience than fowler. depends how well newton could pickup our offense. i think newton would perform far better with our returning players than he ever did at howard. and for those newton critics out there, ya'll gotta remember he was named the meac offensive player of the year over raynard 2 years ago. to say you'd start fowler over a former meac offensive poy makes me scratch my head... >>hail, i've never been impressed by chauncey. i would've picked that freshman buzzard over chauncey just like oliver did. Thats not what happen. In the beggining of the season Oliver started Micah Zanders(jr) over Chauncey in the Austin Peay game. Zander played horrible. Later Chancey came in and drove the team to there only Touch Down. Yet Zanders continue to be the starter. After Chauncey left Zanders got hurt in the next game like he always do and they insert the freshmen Davius Richard and the rest is history no matter what happened, i still would've picked that freshman over chauncey. the freshman kid can "pass" quite well, way better than chauncey. hail, give me fowler over chauncey any day of the week too. chauncey wouldn't upgrade our roster (at the qb position) whatsoever, i wouldn't even consider bringing him in even if it was an option....

a coach should "NEVER" not sign a recruit who wants to come to a&t just because he's "better" than the athletes we already have. that's the most insane notion i've ever heard in my life. Keep in mind, 2039 is the same guy who said after the FAMU game that we should always retaliate on the field because it shows our toughness ... so you need to take anything he says with a grain of salt. lol 😎

Was it not stated Newton would need to sit an additional year transferring within the conference ? If thats the case he would be nuts to go to any MEAC school including us. He played as a true freshman and played less than 4 games this year at Howard so he can use this year as a redshirt and be eligible to play this fall except maybe at another MEAC school For what seems like the 1000th time being restated on this board, Newton graduated from Howard last month. Intra-conference transfer rules do not apply since he's a grad student. He can go anywhere where they'll have him.

I think what's being missed here is something Broadway referred to on many occasions. He said he would let all current players know that when he recruits hes looking for someone better than what he currently has, that he wanted someone that could take a players job. Why would I want someone not as good as what I already have.
His players knew they had to constantly compete to stay on the field. Truth be told he was trying to run this program like a P5 team. Which we kind of do right now. The fact that we have so many players here already on campus that aren't forced into action is a far cry from probably what most MEAC programs can say. We can stash players away for seasoning and physical maturing and we can do this because of the promise of being in the title chase once your number is called. Other MEAC teams probably lose a lot of guys to the CIAA and SIAC because they dont play immediately.
Folks we are in a really good place and clearly this staff knows what they're doing.
We'll find out next season if we have taken that next step where we are almost plug and play like an Alabama or Oklahoma, when Fowler most likely gets the keys to the Ferrari. If he has success than your talking about 3 QBs in 5 years that have put up decent numbers.

I like Fowler's arm talent but, if a defense takes his first read away then look out...sack, fumble or blindside hit. Like Thrilla says, he processes a little too slow. When you step up to play the likes of NDSU and Liberty you are looking to get killed. We already know they will make adjustments to what we do well so...I would be a bit apprehensive. Unless Fowler makes vast improvements over the next 7-8 months, I think we need to bring in another QB. By the way, I thought Hooker played a good game in the Belk bowl, hint hint. Speaking of NDSU, Trey Lance’s QB is a man as a True Freshman. He may play in the NFL someday.

We will just have to actually show patience and not run off at the mouth at the first signs of adversity. But man, as long as teams commit to stopping the run at all costs, Fowler or Ifedi will have a chance to shine like Carter did in the Celebration Bowl.

If he has success than your talking about 3 QBs in 5 years that have put up decent numbers. It is in this vein that I queried as to what is needed to enhance our program in terms of continuous improvement to move to the next level. This concept is from Dr. Deemings book Out of the Crisis which I highly recommend for the readers of this forum. While the concept is endemic to manufacturing processes it's applicability is relevant to organized sports on all levels. I was not into any shade nor any other tangential episode. To be candid we have a sniper scope target on our backs period. I am not being an alarmist rather a realist. I am not going to question the wisdom of the coaching staff who in my opinion is underpaid. Some of us on this forum seemingly are in need of some professional help or suffer from illusions of grandeur. But then again is this that Aggie arrogance?
