I would much rather have a high school qb thank a transfer. I think Jalen Fowler can hold his own. If we can get a few DTs in here and sure up the DBs id be a happy camper coming into the 2020 season I agree wholeheartedly with that take. Besides, this is a bumper crop year on the high school level for teams looking for QB, OL, and DL prospects while the transfer portal is loaded with possibilities for additional secondary help. No need for anyone to become despondent and start setting their hair on fire. We're going to be in a very good place with our recruiting in about month. Trust me on this.

The biggest thing we need for the quarterback position is legitimate competition.
Last year, I dont think either Fowler or Ifedi pushed Carter hard enough for the job.
I want the guy who eventually is our starting quarter in the season opener to feel like he just survived the Hunger Games. Competition brings out the best in everyone.
And I dont know if you really get that with a true freshman quarterback coming in this fall.

Dont get me wrong; we definitely need to sign a HS quarterback this class. But unless he is a graduate of the Manning passing academy, I dont think he will be a legitimate option to start for us in 2020.
Since Ifedi & Fowler have both been career backups, I believe we need another seasoned player who can push both of them for the starting job come August.
Basically, I want an alpha to emerge and lead this pack.

yeah, well my "preference" is for us to bring in an experienced truly "dual threat" qb perhaps like the juco qb that tennessee state signed or an fbs transfer who can actually start on day 1. if not that, then signed a "stud" outta high school or both...

Our coaches have a way in which they groom QBs for the future, it’s working yet I forget you guys are the experts.

I dont understand your comment. What exactly would cause the coaches to lose the team?
Oleschool and I are just giving our opinion on what we would like to see happen with the quarterback position this offseason.
Nobody is telling the coaching staff how to do their jobs. You act like you've never been on this message board before.
We are just thinking out loud.

I just don't think it is going to happen. Washington seem to be sold on Fowler. Other than Khalil Gilliam are there any remaining QBs redshirt or Transfers? Newton would not be a option because this kid stated where he play he wants to be the starter period!!!!!

What is info on Broomfield were is he from and I like to see Sumpter get some run he seems to be very physically almost took the Alcorn player head off on the opening kick off. That Sumpter hit was a great tone setter for the whole game.

You are right we all have opinions and I am voicing mine...Martin did not come in and take cartwrights starting role. I will say that Martin is the more talented of the two however Cartwright stayed the starter, coach showed loyalty to the players that have bled for the team and university. You guys are calling for the coaches to bring in a new QB to be the starter. Jalen has been in the programmed like Carter waiting to start. However that means nothing to you guys. Fowler has waited in the wings for his chance. It’s like being on a job and your boss says when he retires the position is yours, you wait 3 years ur boss retires and they bring in someone from outside the company to fill his role. What message would that send to everyone else in the company?

Lack of loyalty to a kid that has waited in the wings for a chance to start, you guys want to bring in a new starting QB before Fowler gets a chance. Kids don’t transfer out of our program because of how great the school is and the loyalty that we show.
