Good deal, would and could Amir or Mac play the FS? I think defensive back coach Thomas Howard is gonna have to go back to the drawing board and just rework basic fundamentals with all of these guys. I've started re-watching game film from this season and there is just bad technique all over the place. We are suckers for the double move, nobody backpedals all that well, and our tackling in the open field was just abysmal. I saw that as well. That goes back to fundamentals and our core beliefs. Also, we also have Mychale in the mix at Safety. My gut tells me that Salahuddin will be at FS with McNeil relegated to our slot/dime back.

Kitles will be returning. Also a very trusted source of mine said he spoke with the uncle of an ecu transfer that played at wake forest high, I think it’s safe to say that tagg bullock is official.

I think we all spoke to that kids uncle recently LOL. Either way I’m excited. I also believe we have a few more tricks up our bag for the DT position.

We will never play that junk D just upgrade the secondary and D line.We do Chicken. We've played 3-3-5 at points since the Norfolk St game in 2015. Coach Sam has studied it a good bit. If your secondary is a strength... it's not out of the question.

My gut tells me that Salahuddin will be at FS with McNeil relegated to our slot/dime back. I repeat: Amir was the best cornerback on the team this season. How are you gonna take him off the field for more than 50 percent of the snaps?

If your secondary is a strength... it's not out of the question. You gotta have a space-eating nose guard for that defense the work. We currently don't have anybody on the roster who would really fit that description.

If I'm Coach Sam, I transition a bit in 2020. Instead of using an OLB as my big nickel, I use Crossen as my big nickel/slot. That would certainly help remedy our biggest matchup problem against FAMU & SC Steat. But I'm just a fan... I think this coaching staff is gonna have to swallow their pride and rethink some of their core defensive philosophies this offseason. We are coming off two straight Celebration Bowl games where Alcorn State has exploited some major deficiencies in our defense - in 2018 via the run and this year through the air. We really had no answer for Alcorn State's adjustments in the second half; we just kept our foot of the gas offensively so the lead never got under double digits. There wasn't much we were going to do against Alcorn's adjustments. The CB skill level just wasn't there this year given Mac's health, Derrek Williams' health and the limits of the other CBs on the roster. But give me a 100% Mac/Amir and a Crossen in the slot... I feel a whole lot better. The reason I say Crossen in the nickel spot is that he's already been playing safety, so he should be used to playing the run. And teams want to be able to operate in the middle of the field... younger QBs especially. So put your best defensive talent there to combat it. If we don't... teams like Liberty and NDSU will see our LB in the slot, move their best WR there in 11 personnel and wear us out. Crossen is a big enough DB to give you the best of both worlds in the big nickel spot. We have Miles Simon, Will Jones, Kittles, Stephen Davis, Jr and even Joe Stuckey to work in at the FS/Rover spots. I do think Stuckey can defend the slot in pass coverage... but Crossen would almost certainly be an upgrade.

And it's not a base defense... more of a change-of-pace from a 4-3 or 4-2-5. Or in obviously passing downs, where speed matters more than occupying blockers.

I agree also we are forgetting all the red shirts that play db from the 19 signing class and all the ath signees. We really have to wait until camp to understand all of this.
