As someone who grew up on the “101” with State grads all throughout my family and circle it pains me to see the band in its current state.
I wasn’t able to make it on Saturday but our last time down there the entire vibe was just totally different than what I was accustomed to experiencing on their yard. You could really tell the financial situation had taken its toll on the school and supporters.

Back when I marched (from 07-11) SC State was one of the bigger bands in the MEAC. I want to say in ‘08 they had a little less than 300 members. It’s crazy to see how far their band had fell off

To begin let me say I am glad that we won the game despite the home cooking; players especially are to be commended especially Amir McNeill who got a redemption moment when fans were hard very hard on him. All of the above previous views are on point. Sadly if some of that football going to Clemson instead of SC State; they would be back in contention. It will really have to take some creative ideas to reverse this trend. In fact what a lot of these young men needs in their lives are the old school coaches rather than these coaches at those schools that do not give a *** about them. Really we have to be thankful for the coaches who in all too many instances have to a Father to a lot of these students rather than a cuddler like some if not most of these coaches at those schools. Also remember that there is historic hatred toward South Carolina State for their pass struggles for basic human dignity. The same applies to North Carolina Agricultural&Technical State University. In other words it is the Haiti effect wherein Haiti was subjected and continues to subjected to racism due to their struggle for human dignity which aided in this county's fight for independence.
So in this moment let us spread our wings for excellence in the pursuit of excellence by any means necessary despite who continues be envious. For instance and maybe I should say as a caveat we need to keep our eyes on the prize which is why i say we need to stop being mentally stymied by this concept of East Greensboro being the little outhouse to UNC-G. How and why have we partnered with UNC-G in the School of Nanotechnology?

I heard that Dr. George Washington Carver eventually didn’t even cash his checks at tuskeegee. It’s really is remarkable what Coach Pough is doing there. (Sending guys to the League ect). SC State is struggling but Buddy has a few advantages that we don't have: 1. They are the only state funded HBCU in South Carolina. 2. Their entrance requirements are not a challenging as ours. 3. There are lots of talented Black high school athletes in South Carolina 4. Those Black athletes that aren't recruited by USC or Clemson, often only have SC State. They're not getting the quality of athletes in volume they once did. Having to compete against Coastal, the schools in Charleston, Wofford and Furman will continue to make it tough for SC State. I'm sure a few SC recruits were at the game and I'm sure they'll be interested in coming to A&T.
