I believe we have solidified our claim as having the best HBCU homecoming in the nation. The question now is what should we do with this event moving forward?
Pump in more resources and try to expand the scope of this week-long event, or just keep everything intimate and try to perfect what we already have in place?

Interesting conversation about GHOE on social media:

After all these years the city of Greensboro is still treating A&T like step-children, so sad!

GHOE will expand as new facilities come on-line in the coming decade in Greensboro. For example, the Tanger Event Center downtown should be opening in 2020 and that would be perfect for one of the Alumni Concerts. You'll also see party promoters booking facilities in High Point as the competition for party spaces increases.
As far as hotels go, You'll have a Hampton Inn opening downtown along with the Hyatt Place that's already opened.
If anything, the downtown spaces could make things interesting if they ever wanted to become A&T's Host Hotel. But that seems unlikely as the Sheraton is perfect for us with its size. Either way, with A&T's alumni, base growing yearly, Homecoming will expand and more people will make it to the yard year after year.

Do you think we should stage some events at LeBauer & Center City parks and give GHOE more of a downtown vibe?

Do you think we should stage some events at LeBauer & Center City parks and give GHOE more of a downtown vibe? It's definitely worth considering especially if the City Council throws some funding behind it like they did the Folk Festival.

I rode to the downtown popup shop Saturday around 11-11:30 and the area was dead, never would of known a major event was going on within walking distance.

I think we need to pump more resources and work on improving what we have already. Get more tailgating spots, the price was $275 a spot I am sure next year will be $300 for a tailgating spot on Laurel St. I just don't want to get priced out of tailgating. It we could get another spot and hopefully that would bring the price down or at least keep it where its at now. Out side of that I would love to see a national artist perform at fan feast after the parade or after the game in the Holland bowl/ plots area. That could possibly take away from the organic feel but it would be interesting to see.

I want the University to have more events like the Alumni Concert. Rather than outsiders booking venues and hosting concerts and day parties, why can't the University do that? There are tons of young adults paying out hundreds of dollars to non-university sponsored events. It can start small...rent 3 or 4 hotel ballrooms and go from there. GHOE is starting to be like the CIAA Tournament... everybody but the University is making lots of money off of it.

Now that the CIAA has relocated, GHOE is officially the largest Black event in the state and probably the biggest money maker the city has. More importantly, it already has a national brand. Black folks across the country (especially those 50 and younger who went to an HBCU) have heard of GHOE. Not sure who came up with that acronym, but its brilliant and makes other schools absolutely envious. Lol.

I would think its the direct liability factor that would keep the university out of it.
