Statistically, we out-played them. To many let downs on defense. Game never should have went to overtime. Penalties also hurt us bad, real bad... ... Michael Jackson

Players Suspended or not, we let this one get away. 32 seconds left you get first down we still have 24 seconds left and we cannot get going until 7 seconds left. That's just poor. Even the players were motioning to spike the ball after the first down. You are me and he is me. I watched with my family (I’m the only Aggie) and there was an uproar to the clock. It was as if it had a mind of its own! I’m not blaming it for our loss. AGGiES DO. But AGGIES have to do better!

I hate to say this (because it should already be a part of our game day protocol), but we should have a grad assistant on the sidelines near Washington whose SOLE job is to be aware of clock management issues and remind Washington to call for a spiked down or to remind our players to get out of bounds when coming out of a timeout like we did. The clock management was piss poor and there's really no excuse for it. Gotta do better going forward. 32 seconds is a long time when you have a fresh set of downs and you're in the redzone. We should have AT LEAST been able to get two plays out of that endgame situation.....possibly three.

I honestly thought that after we (mostly Aggie 77 and VA's Finest) publicly shamed this coaching staff at the Charleston Southern game, that they had addressed their clock management issues.
I guess I was wrong.

That was a bogus call. I'm assuming the whole team thought that the dude went out of bounds on previous play..because he did..standing up..so I don't know why the official winded his arms up to keep the clock running. It was a first down so the clock stopped to move the chains. Then the clock started moving. I think they all thought the clock was dead due to the previous play when dude caught the ball and went out of bounds. Which is the correct assumption. It was a bogus call. I don't blame them for that one.

If you are going forward (up the field) when going out of bounds, the clock stops, if your forward process has been stopped or in this case going towards your own goal line, the clock runs.
More importantly you can also watch the official (HL) who motioned to stop the clock for 1st down but then motioned to wind the clock once ball was set.
I know we always preach about fundamentals being taught, run, hit, tackle. I think we may need to add clock management to the curriculum.
I understand this was Fowler's first critical game action so he sort of gets a pass because I'm sure things were happening at 100mph for him. However most of these guys have been either playing or coaching the game for numerous years and at some point or another have been in a hurry up 2 minute drive. For some teams it is a part of their daily practice when you hear coaches at post game pressers.
But all this is water under the bridge, what we have to do is use this as a teaching moment and become better from it.

There was a lot of adversity before the game (not nearly as much as famu dealt with last year but enough) and plenty during the game. I am proud that we took it to OT. I honestly was not confident going into this game that we could win. Their strengths are their passing game and rush defense. Our weakness is pass defense and our strength is our running game and run defense. Of course run defense doesn't matter when playing a team that isn't worried about running. I just didn't think we matched up well and honestly, we didn't.
Despite that the game came down to a few little things and a few massive errors. I will be blunt, imo the better team won the game. I'm pleased we took it to the wire and I hope we learned a few things about discipline. When the whistle blows head straight to the sidelines or straight to the line of scrimmage and prepare for the next play, period. The best teams on every level control their emotions to an unbelievable degree. If you can control your emotions in an emotion-filled game then you've literally won half the battle. Hyping up a game in your mind to the point you are out of control is a dangerous game.
We'll be fine. A hard lesson was taught. And I already got an instant message from one of my coworkers who's a rattler, lol. She didn't even mention the game, just said hi. That's how you play the game. When you know you beat somebody you don't even have to say sheeeet.
How do I start a petition to turn off the crowd shots at FAMU games? Every shot set my people back five years. By the time the game was over it was 1494, two years after Columbus.

LMAO, I thought it would get better after they started showing shots of younger people, but it didn't. Bad eyelashes and stomachs at 20 years old. FAMU has the most bama crowd on the planet. But back to the game.... Defense played bad, down 2 All Meac performers, but yet we still found a way to get to OT. Then the bad clock management at the end. We couldn't overcome all that.

The reason you guys get crowd shots is because the ESPN3 broadcast is basically a simulcast of the Jumbotron feed. So you’re going to whatever the crowd sees. The only difference is that the ESPN graphics package is added.

Dawg I thought I was going to see a shot of somebody barefoot eating watermelon in overalls and a straw hat . I don't know if it's a combo of the sunlight, the HD feed, and the shaky cameramen or what but it's just a terrible look. Of course I'd take that look and a W over dress shirts and an L any day of the week . Congrats again to your peeps 2real. Not too many teams have beaten us two years in a row since we started winning. Good luck the rest of the way.

When you say the better team won, I think that needs more clarification......they were the better team because they had more discipline. On a neutral field, there's not separating them. However, over these last 2 games vs FAMU, there was one team that never lost its cool or composure in crucial situations......AND THAT TEAM WASN'T US.
This is a Coach Washington loss.....not an Aggie loss.....a Coach Washington loss.....because he has failed to instill the discipline that is necessary for this team to be of championship quality. We got lucky last year because FAMU choked down the stretch. We may even get lucky this year because they're ineligible. However, I'm done with the penalties and idiotic behavior we express on the field.
I need to check myself as well. I was joking when the team got in front of the camera and took a picture after we put up 58 points on Norfolk. What I failed to realize is that our team is not mature enough to be even-keeled, when things are going great or when things are going like isht.
I do see a worrisome pattern developing under Coach Washington.......LACK OF DISCIPLINE. We got the talent, but if the focus and mental fortitude aspects of this team don't improve, we may be seeing a lot of 7-4/8-3 seasons ahead of us, with those losses being to teams who may not be as talented as us, but may not be as mentally or emotionally weak as us.
Coach Washington is only a 2nd year head coach; he's still learning......but I don't think it can be argued anymore that he is not big on instilling discipline.
