Since the Aggies are idle, and I have already been on a trail drive Gil Favor would be proud of, I think I will avoid the local games and rest up for the stretch run that includes trips to Bragg and Dawson Stadiums with GHOE sandwiched between. Though I will probably watch parts each game, the only one of real interest to me is in Orangeburg.
Thursday 6:00 PM Bethune-Cookman vs. North Carolina Central - ESPNU
Saturday 1:00 PM Norfolk State vs. Howard - ESPN3 1:00 PM Delaware State vs. Morgan State - ESPN3 1:30 PM Hampton vs. Gardner-Webb - ESPN+ 2:00 PM Florida A&M vs. South Carolina State ESPN3 2:00 PM Morehouse vs. Tuskegee - ESPN3 7:00 PM Prairie View A&M vs. Southern - ESPN3
I know it's early for the roll call, but anybody rolling into Bragg and/or Dawson?

i'll record the bcu/nccu game and watch it when i get home. but the game i'm most interested in is the scsu/famu game. i'll proabably watch the entire game since we'll play famu the following week. might as well get my "scouting report" on for famu and actually scsu too.
i haven't seen either team play a full game this year, only small parts of games they've played. but i can kill 2 birds with one stone by watching the entire scsu/famu game this weekend...

I'm taking NCCU over BCU tonight, SCSU over FAMU, and Howard over NSU since its Howard's homecoming.

I think the NCCU/FAMU game was more a function of the Norfolk St roadtrip and Homecoming distractions. NCCU just ain't that good.

i hate to admit it, but the buzzards freshman qb didn't look half bad. saw him make some very "accurate" passes that his receivers plain out just "dropped". he appears to be a far more accurate passer than caldwell was...

Hmm, I hate the buzzards. they can suck forever and I wouldn't care.
As far as the comparison to Broadway's first season. Broadway's team could have easily went undefeated in the MEAC his first year. Every MEAC lose was less than 10 points. This NCCU team's issue will be to not get in a depressed state. Broadway's team ran off 3 MEAC wins before losing a bunch of close games, so they knew they could compete and had confidence. This NCCU team has lose 2 straight but also has winnable games coming to get them above .500 in conference play. If they win them both then yes, they will be having a similar year. Right up until we kick their teeth in, LOL.

yeah but we also "upset" bcu in coach broadway's first season which "nobody" in their right mind expected to happen. so i think the difference between coach broadway's first year at "t" and the buzzards first year under oliver is that "expectations" were extremely "low" for coach broadway's first year at "t". we were just coming off of a 1-10 season under alonzo lee, darn near an "ofer" had it not been for howard that year.
but "expectations" were higher for oliver than it was for broadway. in coach broadway's first season, we were "preseason" picked to finish "dead last" in the meac. whereas the buzzards were preseason picked 5th in oliver's first season, he supposedly had more tools to work with than broadway did. broadway didn't have a full recruiting class in his first year with us and he inherited a 1-10 team.
so yeah, i think there's a big difference between coach broadway's first year versus oliver's...

NCCU got pushed around badly in the second half especially on offense. Some of those guys couldn't even block me so that should tell you something. Richard is going to be pretty serviceable once he gets some experience but the Eagles have got to make huge upgrades in along both of their interior fronts to seriously contend for anything. They were physically overwhelmed.
As for BCU, they better find something else offensively besides running Williams on nearly every play and throwing bubble screens to Robinson. A good defensive unit will choke off edge and double Robinson. Sims is in love with sending a linebacker or a safety on nearly every down. There were gaps there just waiting to be exploited but NCCU didn't have the personnel nor the right offensive play calls to do anything with it.

You're right, their QB is good. Jay Walker said he needed to not throw "fast balls" every play. And you're also right about his receivers...they were awful! He would put the ball right in their hands and they just flat out drop it. And that happened often and the coach didn't yank them out! It was obvious the coach knew his receivers couldn't catch a cold and they didn't have anyone sitting on the bench that could do better. If they ever get some decent receivers NCCU is going to give MEAC teams some trouble. Hopefully by then we have found a couple more good DBs!

I haven’t seen SCSU play, but I have seen FAMU twice and now NCCU three times. The way BCU handled NCCU on a short week, on the road, I think FAMU struggles mightily tomorrow against a rested, home field SCSU team.
