Aggies Weekly Football Press Conference (9/23/19) NCATAGGIES.COM WED, SEP 25Head football coach Sam Washington on the Aggies bye week: “Looking back, I thought it was a very productive week last week. We did a bunch of fundamental stuff. We started back at ground zero. We’re trying to get back on track and do the little things right and well. I thought the guys responded very well to our practices.” Coach Washington on the Charleston Southern game: “Looking back on Charleston-Southern, it was a tough ballgame. We started very slow. That was a major concern for us, but we seemed to be able to get it on track in the second half. We found some gaps and some holes available. Coach Washington on Jah-Maine Martin’s performance: “The young man Jah-Maine Martin did his thing. He rushed for 299 yards in a fabulous way. Two of those touchdowns were just remarkable. The way he was able to elude and still take it the distance was very impressive and (running backs coach Shawn Gibbs) loves when things like that happen.” Coach Washington on the Aggies conference opener, Delaware State: “Our first conference opponent is a very worthy opponent. Don’t be fooled by their record. I will say this, (Delaware State head coach Rod Milstead) has gotten this team very prepared. They play harder than the Del State from recent years. We’re looking forward to the challenge and we’re ready. I’m just going to say it like that. We’re ready. We’re going to do what we do, continue to do chicken, keep it simple, and play hard.” For the rest of the story:www.ncataggies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=24500&ATCLID=211812532

Three things to know: Delaware State at N.C. A&T By Jeff Mills jeff.mills@greensboro.com
N.C. A&T’s Kylil Carter is the only starting quarterback in the MEAC who hasn’t thrown an interception this season. Karl B DeBlaker The Associated Press
GREENSBORO — Now it gets real. The non-conference games on the schedule are over, and N.C. A&T comes off an open week with nothing but MEAC games between now and season’s end. The No. 18 Aggies host Delaware State at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at BB&T Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU. 1. QuarterbacksBoth quarterbacks are in their first years as full-time starters, but the similarities end there. Carter, a 5-foot-10, 229-pound graduate student, is in his fifth season with the Aggies football program. He’s a dual threat, an accurate passer with quick feet and a fullback’s power. Carter is the only starting QB in the league who hasn’t thrown an interception this season. Delaware State’s Tylik Bethea is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound true freshman. Injuries before the season started thrust him into the starting role ahead of schedule. He’s a tall, slender, pure pocket passer. A&T opens MEAC play against 'much improved' Delaware State in prime time By Jeff Mills jeff.mills@greensboro.com
GREENSBORO — Short week. Long bus ride. Big game. And so it goes for Delaware State (1-2, 0-1 MEAC) as the Hornets travel 400 miles to take on rested No. 18 N.C. A&T (2-1, 0-0) in the Aggies’ league opener, a made-for-TV game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at BB&T Stadium. Delaware State comes in off a 24-9 homecoming loss to Howard, with just four days between games. A&T, meanwhile, comes in off an open week, making Thursday night much more appealing. “This one I like, in particular because of the week off beforehand,” A&T coach Sam Washington said. “It’s perfect. (Thursday games) can be annoying if you just had a game Saturday, like Del State. They played Saturday, and they have to travel on Wednesday. That’s tough. And that’s a long trip, too. Ride that bus.” The team that will step off that bus is "much improved," Washington said.
