There's so much to unpack here. First lets begin with the fact that both FOX News and WFMY have already contacted her for permission to use the footage. So yes....this will be in the news.
Secondly, "make A&T ghetto again" is what happens when you cut out and underemphasize the humanities at A&T and aggressively promote STEM. These kids don't know their history, have no sense of appreciation of the "space" that they occupy, and the role that that space played in advancing the freedom dreams of millions of Black Americans and radically transforming the social and political landscape of this country. They have no sense of the power of language or how to wield it appropriately and effectively. It's not their fault.....it's ours.
Thirdly......are we going to address the elephant in the room??? What was that sister wearing in her profile pic?? No?? We not going to talk about that?? Ok.....good enough. Keep it moving.....lol.

Apparently, the whole hashtag movement was done to promote an on-campus DJ battle:

Apparently, the whole hashtag movement was done to promote an on-campus DJ battle: How does #makeA&Tghettoagain promote a DJ Battle? Were there two deejays named Ghetto or something? I don't get it and surprisingly, I actually want to get it. LOL.

STUPID! How long have we been trying to move away from that "party school" nonsense? It seems like forever ago that A&T had the rep of being the "black" Arizona State...

I mean if the students would PUT DOWN THEIR PHONES and stop trying to make every second of the day an InstaTwitterSnapBook Moment they could make it live. We didnt have these distractions in our day, we actually had to socialize, join orgs, get in on a pickup basketball or soccer game, meet people, pull up to the cafe like it was the club...

Eventhough I'm old, I see what she's doing. She's trying to increase student involvement in a way they understand. It's not about partying, it's about fighting apathy. Once they are involved you begin to hit them with important issues.
On the sports side, it may be about things like actually attending games(something we complain about all the time), re-energizing the livewires, creating a real homefield advantage and ultimately giving back at some point.
Everybody's falling for the okedoke. The word doesn't mean the same thing to them that it meant to us 30-40 years ago. The old alumni and administration of our day probably thought we were crazy, too. ...but we didn't think we were. What do you think the old folks thought about the four freshmen in the banner up top? CRAZY.
Let the chiren do their thing. She's the new student body President and she's making a splash in September. Remember, she's already presented her one year strategic plan to the administration. So they know the end game.

.......................... Security guard at N.C. A&T put on leave after student is punched
By John Newsom john.newsom@greensboro.com GREENSBORO — A security guard at N.C. A&T has been placed on leave as university police investigate a campus incident involving a student. A 15-second video posted on social media Saturday shows an A&T security guard punching an A&T student in the neck. It's not clear from the video what prompted the encounter, and the student did not appear to be seriously injured. According to an A&T police department incident report, the encounter took place about 5:15 p.m. Friday inside the university's student center. This is what happens when you don't know your history. I can remember reading some articles about the new A&M College for the Colored Race struggling to get students because former "slaves" didn't want their kids attending a school that basically focused on agriculture...the very thing they tried to leave after slavery ended. Since our inception we have struggled with our image...in our own community and nationally. When I came to A&T we were mostly a community of students from small "country" towns. The fact that in 50 years A&T is now perceived as "boujee" is both comical and fascinating.
There's good new and bad news here...the good news is we are talking more about our "image" is now and what we want to be in the future. The bad news is while we are talking about this issue, we are not focused on more pressing University issues.

Questions?.. Is this whole "Make NCAT Ghetto Again" one of those situations where "Aggies" can call the Student body Ghetto but no one outside the Aggie community can? (I mean, could you imagine someone from UNCG, Duke, or fill-in the blank PWI starting to openly refer to our student body as "ghetto".)
Are Ghetto and Boujee the only two adjectives that can be used to discuss the over all student body?
Lastly, if NCAT has be "Ghetto", are there degrees of Ghetto-ness, if so, what degree of Ghetto would the administration be comfortable with image wise?
