People really needed to be ready to go online first thing last week but tables weren't cheap and a lot of folks understandably hesitated because of the up front price. Yes, there are going to be individual tickets for public sale tomorrow but they won't last very long and it will be pot luck on seat location at best. Our folks traditionally do not adjust to a change in routine well or very willingly but that is and will continue to be the nature of the beast as the demand and the university continues at its rapid growth. The old style way of trying to do business over the phone or in person simply won't cut it anymore in this era of instant electronic access. Hey I've had my American Express card ready to buy a concert table since the final gun at last year's homecoming game. And I know 3 or 4 alumni friends that were ready to do the same...but we couldn't log on. Hell, we even tried before the "assigned" time just to get a jump start. And we never could get in! So they sold out the tables before I could log in! No problem...I'll just spend my concert money at the Celebration Bowl in December! I'm sure Atlanta would love to have that money. It went smoothly over here. We logged in last Friday afternoon, bought the table in literally 4-5 minutes, and boom we were done. Other than it might have been a problem with the firewall or cookie settings, I don't understand it not working. Sorry y'all had that problem.

i didn't have any problems either, was "smooth sailing" from the time i logged on until the time i checked out. however, i did get a little nervous when for some reason i couldn't get the "payment" button to execute.
at first i thought maybe i'd entered my credit card number wrong, but i didn't. come to find out after re-examining all my entries very closely, for some reason they made the "class year graduated" field a friggin "mandatory field". wth?
what's so important about a person's "class year graduated" that they felt the need to make it a "mandatory field"?

Alumni demographic:
Percentage of alumni participating (by decades)
- years out of school wrt to potential of giving, young alumns small, older alumns greater.
- update their database.
- trends in comparison with previous years.

Its seems pretty obvious that the demand for this concert is now outpacing the supply.
Why not move it to a larger venue ... or have two alumni concerts that weekend, one Friday night and one Saturday night? I am sure you would reach the same profit margin on both dates.

I think it could support the two concert idea. One with an 80's/90's feel, another with a 2000's feel.

Yes. I was thinking two national artists. For Example: Boyz II Men (1980s) on Friday, Mary J.Blige (2000s) on Saturday. Something like that. Some alumni might be rolling and go to both. The thing that makes the alumni concert work is the intimate setting IMO.

Well, while not an official alumni show - Diamond Life Concerts has two shows geared towards alumni on Friday and Saturday night. Friday night's after dark show with SWV and special guest, and Saturday night with PJ Morton.

Yups, go run and tell folk to support those opportunities so there is a reason to continue expanding them.

Well here's my recap of the Alumni Concert on Friday night... 1. Ticket process was awful for many alumni 2. Actual show was a snoozer. Except for those fine sisters from En Vogue, I could have skipped the whole event. 3. Saturday night, the main complaint of senior alums about GHOE was the Sheraton room hassle and the concert ticket issue.
Sounds like another fantastic GHOE weekend! Can't wait for January 20th to start trying to get my Sheraton room for next year's GHOE! (Does anybody know who's performing on the Alumni Concert next year?) Lol

Lol From the looks of things, the Big Daddy Kane/SWV show was the highlight concert of the weekend. But PJ Morton looked to put on one heck of a show as well. It seems like to me there will be plenty of room for shows for all Alumni demographics in the next decade.
