they've been having an alumni dance in the koury convention center on saturday nights but it hasn't been as well attended as the friday night affairs... Are you thinking about the alumni event on Saturday night? I think that is a joint event with the Alumni Association and the Alumni Band. And you're right it's not well attended...because it's not well done! Friday night's event is upscale with food, entertainment and atmosphere. The event on Saturday night is like a "sock hop" in a dark gym! A DJ spinning records and limited seating in a dark ballroom isn't going to get you many senior alumni. On Saturday night, alumni want a place to hang out, talk, eat and drink and maybe do a little dancing. Oh, did I mention "talk." That's why the lobby at the Sheraton is so full of alumni on Saturday night...they want to see and talk to old friends.

I don't know. I just received an automatic email describing the process. Taking it off of paper and making everyone go through the website will eliminate the hookup system. However, this will upset the older alumni who are used to paying by check or cash I'm totally in favor of any system that destroys the old time honored hookup scam that certain individuals heavily involved in the whole GHOE concert ticket purchase apparatus managed to perpetrate on both the general public and donors alike, especially over the last three years. I don't think any "system" will get rid of the old "hookup" scam! I accept that! I just want a system that allows me to go online, pick what service I want and pay for it with a "valid" credit card! Hell, I do that everyday with airline tickets, hotel rooms, printer cartridges, software and golf balls. So why is it so darn hard to buy for a friggin table to a concert or reserve a homecoming hotel room. We make simple stuff so complex!

yeah, i was one of the ones who complained to the alumni association last year that the process to purchase tickets was far too time consuming. i had to "literally" sit and wait about "4 or 5 hours" just to purchase 2 tickets. so i suggested to them at that time that they should consider using ticketmaster or eventbrite.
but now that they're using eventbrite, i'm hoping that i didn't spoil my chances of getting 2 tickets. somehow i think by sept. 9th those tickets will be soldout...

This is gonna be a cluster F. Website will probably crash within the first hour. I don't know. I just received an automatic email describing the process. Taking it off of paper and making everyone go through the website will eliminate the hookup system. However, this will upset the older alumni who are used to paying by check or cash i received that email too. i'm shocked!! they didn't raise the ticket prices!! i thought for sure they'd raise the ticket prices to compensate for the costs associated with using eventbrite. man, i got a sneaky suspicion that by sept. 9th, that joint gone already be soldout...

Got the follow up email from the university with my code to purchase a table this week. So far the system seems to be working pretty smoothly, but I'm sure there will be some complaints.

Hallelujah! A&T has finally found a system that "appears" to work to resolve some of the GHOE crap! But $1,818 for a table for Johnny Gil and En Vogue is a bit much for me! I'm sure this will sell out but this year I'm going to give my $362 (two concert tickets) to AAF instead and just wander the Sheraton lobby Friday night.

All tables were sold within 2 hours of release. Only individual tickets are left.

Folks, this new systems sucks also. So you tell donors that they will have early access to tables and when the phones go live, nobody can get in? Okay, GHOE is going to be a day trip for me...drive up that morning, go to the game and drive home after the game. I'll save my money for the Celebration Bowl.

People really needed to be ready to go online first thing last week but tables weren't cheap and a lot of folks understandably hesitated because of the up front price. Yes, there are going to be individual tickets for public sale tomorrow but they won't last very long and it will be pot luck on seat location at best.
Our folks traditionally do not adjust to a change in routine well or very willingly but that is and will continue to be the nature of the beast as the demand and the university continues at its rapid growth. The old style way of trying to do business over the phone or in person simply won't cut it anymore in this era of instant electronic access.

Hey I've had my American Express card ready to buy a concert table since the final gun at last year's homecoming game. And I know 3 or 4 alumni friends that were ready to do the same...but we couldn't log on. Hell, we even tried before the "assigned" time just to get a jump start. And we never could get in! So they sold out the tables before I could log in! No problem...I'll just spend my concert money at the Celebration Bowl in December! I'm sure Atlanta would love to have that money.
