heck, is there something special about uncg's doctorate program? or is it simply convenient since they're located right across town? i noticed all three band directors have phd's or are working on phd's from uncg... It is THE top music school in North Carolina. best-music-colleges.com/north-carolinawow, thanks for letting me know, i didn't realize that...

They wasnt even live that game, its like they stayed just to do that because they were told to do that for optics. It worked it was great optics but that was it.. We need to probably invest or raise money for the aggie livewires. Too few of them. I would love us to see something like Costal Carolina where they have their student spirit group travel to all games. This incentive might increase their membership. The more of them they have could be a catalyst to get the entire student section live. The only time the Livewires were the thing to do on campus was when Kevin McCluney was working Marketing with Athletics and got the SGA, specifically Darren Brand involved. However, most of the time, no one wants to join them and looks at them like a band of misfits. Ouch! 😬

Did anyone notice that A&T was way down the list of Music schools with just one program. We struggle to get students interested in majoring in music to A&T. And with few music students you can't fund music instructors, music building or music scholarships.
So we have to fill our band with engineering, math, history, and biology majors. Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that band members are students first and band members second. These are not "bandheads" but students that want to be apart of something special.

I personally miss our former lead arranger ,Dr Thomas Jones ,now the Band Director at Hampton ,his alma mater . His arrangements were straight fire ,especially the ballads . I also miss the sideline blow downs to end the halftime shows .

FAMU been playing Say La La since the 80s.....they OWN this song and its one of their signature tunes. Do we have a signature tune that EVERYONE associates with us?? We need the perfect blend of variety and tradition and you cant build tradition if your'e constantly switching it up. Pick a song, stick with it, and OWN it.

Skin I'm In used to be our signature song. Fire arrangement, everybody knew it was ours, played it at the end of every game, everybody loved it. Staff rewrote it, nobody liked the new version, it never gets played anymore. Velvet Rope used to be our signature song. Fire arrangement, everybody knew it was ours, played it at the end of every game, everybody loved it. Staff rewrote it, nobody liked the new version, gets played every once in awhile, nobody cares. I love what our staff is doing on the field but a few things I'm still salty about.

Don't get me wrong....I LOVED it when A&T played that, but I am sure I heard A LOT of HBCUSs playing that too. You may hear one or two bands trying to play Say La La....but everybody knows that its FAM's song. Same thing with the other songs I posted too, with the exception of Get Ready and Jackson State (NOBODY plays that but them and its their signature song they play to start the band up). For instance, check out how Norfolk's band got clowned for practicing Do Whatcha Wanna: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRhG3eEUpGo&feature=youtu.beEverybody and their mama knows that that song belongs to Southern (and sometimes FAM tries to play it too....lol).

They strike me more as.....cheerleaders for the band. Hopefully they can be more game oriented......as much as band support.........

I was involved with the Livewires my freshman year in 05 for about 1-2 games, definitely felt like we were the misfits lol. Knew it was time to give it up with they started talking about they were going to have an initiation line and probate lol

I always liked "Can You Feel It". It fit perfectly with "Aggie Pride" as a call and response. To play on the word "feel" and get real funky, "I Got Da Feelin"" by James Brown. You got to move when James sings, young and old. Again, inject a call and response with Aggie Pride, Cold Steel and brass blastin, Golden Delight doin' what they do (white boots!😁)! Have a video of Aggies dancing on the big board. Top it off by inviting Macro Parker to lead! Done right, that would create an environment people would pay to experience. Our stadium would rock!!! Aggie Pride, you treat me baddd! youtu.be/t5CAQU6KsMI

The only band I remember playing Skin consistently was Howard - just as much as us. You couldn't really say who it belonged to - we both played it since it came out but it was one of ours lol. Southern played it for awhile too I don't think they did as much as us. Norfolk didn't get clowned for playing a FAMU / Southern song. They got clowned for sucking the soul out of a second line standard. Seriously, that was everything wrong with FAMU's version x 1000. Nobody said anything when we got the same arrangement of Torture as TxSU, or when we played Can You Feel It because they sounded great. BCU ripped off JSU rocks the house and not that many people complain because they still sound like BCU. But as far being known for a song, nobody's got a better claim on Skin than us or Howard, and SU to an extent. Velvet Rope, Middle Finger U, Corporate Thuggin, and our Neck/Hay are all clearly ours. We were going back and forth with BCU over Wrong Idea / Gangsta Aggies too. But you're right, we could definitely use a few more of our own, especially ones that bring the crowd into it.

Almost forgot about Velvet Rope. That must remain in the playlist.
