I would have a DJ at every home game set up on the horseshoe and cater music/entertainment to the students. There are so many breaks in the game that a DJ could keep that aspect of the crowd engaged for the entire game. I don't see how DJ equipment would affect the track.
Student dance-offs between timeouts..... Mascot dance-offs between timeouts...... Who's sorority/fraternity can step the best.....between timeouts Prize giveaways between timeouts.....
Use that track to attract attention!!!
Here's the thing....football can be a dull game. I love football, but can't say I've nodded off a few times when there are dull spots in a game. We gotta keep the students engaged. Club Corbett can be manufactured on the horseshoe side of the field.

Let the band play, All these gimmicks become real gimmicky if they don't happen organically.

Otherwise, the football team is going to get a 15-yard penalty.

Our games are really dry...we lost our soul. The change started to happen once we stopped singing “good owe Aggie spirit”. Or A&T MF...who you wit. The change in song after each touchdown killed me...we play PWI music after each score. Our crowd is majority black but that fight song is for PWIs, I’m not feeling it. We have a fight song....it happens...of course i never heard it growing up but I know its ours. Definitely have to try different things. If they can find a balance in Club Corbett for music, we can find ours in football as well.Get a focus group of djs, sga, suab, drum majors, AD, and maybe Martin......something has to be talked about first. But Step 1 is always making sure we're on the same page when it comes to the kind of atmosphere we want to have.

The key is to get all stakeholders together and talk about a solution, IMHO.

When looking at the attendance numbers..We certainly arent the worst. BUT..With being the "Largest HBCU", are we honestly pulling our weight? Enrollment: Jackson St-8558 , Southern U-6617, Famu-9909, Alabama St-5475, Alcorn-3758. Jackson State(leader) finished the season 5-5. The SWAC as a whole usually is atop the attendance leader board(swac-746,760..meac-500,562). But why? The Bands.. Who wouldnt want to be apart of that?

I have reserved seats.....but last year, at the SCSU game, I sat with my son with in the student section. WE WERE RIGHT BESIDE THE BAND SECTION. The band AND the students got the krunkest when Chief Keef was blaring through the speakers. Even the band gets livelier when music is being played. I'm not saying the band needs to be silenced.....but there are numerous breaks during the game where they don't play.
Even on third and fourth downs, having a DJ play the music to get the students/band engaged is a huge plus.....
.....hell, THE FOOTBALL TEAM - when we were playing at Central and Sheck Wes's "Mo Bamba" was playing, the football team went nuts on the sidelines. Even the defense on the field was dancing.
Entertainment is the key - if 12-0 football teams, repeat Celebration Bowl titles and beating the likes of ECU and Charlotte can't get folks to the stadium, you have to get a pulse of WHAT CAN.
You make Aggie Stadium like Club Corbett and every damn high school student in the area, plus our own students, couldn't wait to get in the stadium......

with the new jumbotron in "clubcorbett", they do a very good job of displaying students dancing and frats/sorors stepping on the screen during timeouts. yet, in aggie stadium, rarely do we see shots of the students dancing/stepping on the screen. perhaps that's something that can be looked at to enhance game day experiences.
but one of the best suggestions i've heard so far is to "shorten" the concession lines, especially since we don't have any tv monitors at the concessions to watch the game while we're in line. by the time we get served, we done missed darn near a full quarter of football...

The DJ idea is always floated until you realize NCCU has been doing it for at least 2 years already and its been met with mixed reviews and really does nothing for their game atmosphere overall. Some like it and others think its too hood. Some love it and everyone will NEVER like the music selection. they will want their era of music played.

Who cares about the "they want their era of music played" thinking? Diehard Aggies from back in the day will be at the game regardless....they ain't coming there to hear the Temptations, cool and the Gang, or cool Moe Dee on the speakers. They are coming to see football and meet up with old friends.
If we want to infuse new blood into the stadium, we have to cater to what that new blood wants.
As far as NCCU goes - Central doesn't have a track around their field. That stadium is so tight and landlocked that they have virtually no space for any dancing or other activities to be done in concert with the game.
I was just thinking.....the most fanfare I hear at the Aggie home games is when the band styles and profiles back up to their seats after their halftime performance. Folks are going nuts as each section of the band does their thing (((ON THE TRACK))) before going to their seats.
The horseshoe side of the field should be all about excitement and entertainment. We also need to make sure our TV screen is on point with respect to putting out a quality picture. We need to make sure our speakers are of good quality as well (OSA also alluded to this).
We are in our Golden Age.....if we can't get our stadium filled right now, when will we ever do it???

Will any suggestions from folks in this forum be presented to The-Powers-That-Be?? And will any suggestions be entertained by them at all??

Will any suggestions from folks in this forum be presented to The-Powers-That-Be?? And will any suggestions be entertained by them at all??The last suggestion that made a serious impact was "cough cough", from yours truly. Moving the band to the "U". Dee Todd listened and it worked. But the only reason she listened was because I drew her a map and said "put the band here and that will draw the students here. right now we have students that cant get near or see the band and they want to". So the planned was laid out, she didn't have to think. Of course she had to convince the band director, but he came on board also. I figure it would take a plan already laid out for the AD for any new idea also. But there has been BIG resistance to the DJ idea at a football game. Mainly because of how it might effect the band. If I was to do it I would NOT try and do it like NCCU. They let their guy play all game during almost any break. It's very annoying. The DJ should have some designated times. Something like pre-game, Any game break when the bands are walking to the field for the half time show and any game break in the 3rd quarter AFTER the "tunnel". That's a decent amount of time and none of it interferes with the band.

I am not a big fan of the DJ idea. Mostly because I do not believe that we will invest in the proper sound equipment and DJ/MC talent to make it work.
The music in Corbett sounded pretty muffled for most of the games I attended last season. Plus the DJ started doing a gospel music set that kind of killed the whole Club Corbett vibe.
I dont think you can just add a DJ, per se, and think that is gonna somehow be a panacea for all our gameday atmosphere problems. You will still need somebody on the payroll to oversee the music transitions, skits, crowd interactions, etc.

Like, yesterday!
