I was watching live and damn near lost my voice yelling for him coming down the stretch, so I got what they were trying to do with the tweet. Like a Ahh man, he was so close and almost had it, type thing. It was still a bad tweet though, school accounts should always highlight the positive, especially with recruits following the account.
The commentator mentioned him looking up at the jumbotron to see other runners was something you shouldn't do. I wonder if this was they first track they've ran on this year that had the jumbotron at the finish.

Kids look at the Jumbotron all the time at A&T. Either going down the back stretch in 400 800 etc or at the end of 200 since we reverse the finish during the MEAC

What did the original Tweet say ? Did that "must do better" was that the tweet ? No. The original tweet's first sentence was something like "Nooooo! Trevor lost." I was at the GREAT Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque . I called my wife to check on the meet and asked her about the meet her words were " No he lost " but the race was so close . I do not feel that her statement was disrespectful and when my Road Dogg who ran track with me in the army ; a former 400 Runner his self and a fan of Trevor's asked me about him I said "nah he lost got beat on a lien" nothing disrespectful again . Now the timing of the Twitter statement could have been presented more thoughtfully but also that is something that should not be taken personally . When you elevate your game to the world and National stage things like this happen sometime with intent and most and most of time without . You just have to be focused on what you have to do in Running your race and not be distracted . Defending your teammate is and honorable thing to do but that was his race and even a little distraction at this level has it's effect . Sensitivity has no place in track and field .

Saab, That's the difference between internal and external messaging. Internally with you wife and your homeboy... of course, you can critique. And yes, mental focus is everything. Stewart lowered his PR by .13 seconds in that race. He needed a little more to make history. But externally.... we dropped the ball on the messaging. And when Chancellor Martin likes the rewrite of the school's message that someone unaffiliated with A&T Athletics did as a reply to that message... you know there's a problem with the original message. Chancellor Martin knows the power of social media. It's a golden area of opportunity for A&T Athletics to catch up in for 2019-20. And those wheels are already in motion.

You know you messed up when the Chancellor likes the re-write of that tweet. I would not be surprised if that guy is also working with the social media side in athletics beginning this fall. Lastly, if this doesn't show you anything else, it should show you that we need to invest a bit more into our marketing, social media presence and sports information for NCAT Athletics.

You're correct about the social media. I remember when we beat ECU last season, it was almost a hour before anything was posted on the FB page about it, same with the celebration Bowl win.

Yep @ Chancellor Martin. It's on the agenda. It just didn't happen fast enough to prevent this from happening last night.

I’m so excited about the programs future, next year we will open even more eyes. If Jaylen Mitchell is healthy our 4x100 will finish top 3.

Jaylan Mitchell: 100M, 4x100M Michael Bell: 200M, 4x100M, LJ Brandon Hicklin: LJ And we got nothing out of the decathlon/javelin this year. We lose a lot with Rodney Rowe graduating and turning pro and Trevor Stewart also possibly turning pro. But with the returnees and the new recruiting class, we will definitely be back in the hunt.

Looked on line for 4x400 relay records at Duke (3:10.96) ; UNC (3:04.70); St Aug (3:04.93) ; ECU (3:02.81) ; NC State (3:07.50) ... Looks like the NCAT time (3:01.5) is the best by a State School of All Time...

Good call on above. Our athletic programs are no longer just operating in a HBCU circle, or even a Regional circle success has pushed onto a National Stage. I was at the women qualifying racing in Austin Thursday night with an Aggie t-shirt on. Many folks from all over recognize us nationally. Others never heard of us I was standing next to Hilton when a white gentlemen asked us what NC A&T stood for. I saw the look on many folks faces when we finished 1&2 in the 200 qualifier "who is this school". Me being me I was harassing some folks from Clemson & Southern Cal telling them we probably have 1/4 the budget you do and look at us. I even had a Tenn grad (sitting next to me) more excited about us than he was about the SEC runners.
