speaking of planned projects, has the long term plans for a new convocation center been "scrapped"? i know it used to be in the plans but i don't know if its still there. now that corbett has been renovated, i suppose there's even less of an urgency for a new convocation center...

Heck, we can't even get that 5 story dormitory built that is very much needed.

I wouldn't consider Corbett as being renovated. The restroom and concession setup is still terrible outdated. There are basically just one men's and one ladies restroom for the entire arena I know we are landlocked, but they need to knock down part of the back wall facing Benbow and create a new facade to house an expanded restroom and concession corridor.

They are exploring buying the apartment complex on Benbow Road. A lot of the stuff that you are interested in is more than likely in their ten year plan. They prioritize a list of projects to enhance the university's growth academically as a top nationally recognized institution. This growth is to attract excellent students and faculty members. It's a flexible list. Number one on the list may move down or number eight may move up. It depends on an urgent need or funding availability.

The dormitory was supposed to break ground in 2020, then everything went silent.

There is an urgent need for housing. We welcome all of these new freshmen with no place to house them.
They have been talking about this 5 story building for several years now and guess what - NO Dorm.
UNCG has built at least 8 to 10 buildings on Gate City Blvd and we can't get one completed.
What's wrong with this picture?

What's wrong with this picture? No school in the UNC system can house all of their students. Not UNC, not State, not ECU. Housing is bad all across the landscape. That’s why priority is for freshmen and sophomores to live on campus. Tbh majority of the upperclassmen probably prefer living on their own.

I am not debating about the other schools not being able to house all of their students. That is a given for all schools.
My issue is why is it taking soooooo long to get the 5 story dormitory that A&T has been talking about for several years.
Our student population has grown tremendously over the last few years, yet, we can't get 1 lonely dorm built to help with the problem.
When I drive down Gate City Boulevard West - UNCG - has built new 8-10 sprawling buildings. Tell you the truth it might be more than 10.
My question was why they can get all those buildings and we can't get 1 that our administration has been talking about for several years.
And guess what, that dorm still won't solve our housing problem even though they are in the process of purchasing apartments in the city of Greensboro.
No fairness still in - 2019.

We house a higher percentage of students than just about anyone in the UNC System.

Waiting for someone to make this about alumni giving... When the Alumni Giving rate is below 10%, it's always about Alumni Giving when it comes to financial resources/needs.
