White, Dickson Earn Top Qualifying Times at USC NCATAGGIES.COM Fri, Feb 1
COLUMBIA, S.C. (February 1, 2019) – North Carolina A&T indoor track and field took a portion of their men’s and women’s teams to the University of South Carolina for the first day of the Carolina Challenge on Friday. The Aggies qualified for numerous finals scheduled for Saturday while also earning numerous top-5 finishes. Seniors Kayla White and Michael Dickson had top-qualifying times on Friday. In Friday’s finals, the Aggies had six top-5 finishes. White, who has multiple All-American and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference honors, had the best 60-meter hurdle qualifying time at 8.16. It was her season debut in the 60mh. The Aggies, who have the two best 60mh runners in the MEAC, saw junior Madeleine Akobundu finish second, fractions of a second behind White. Dickson had the top qualifying time in the 60mh. He ran the race in 7.75, his fastest time of the season as he will make his appearance in the finals on Saturday as the top seed. Other qualifiers included freshman Cambrea Sturgis who ran her 60m qualifier in 7.43 for the second-fastest qualifying time in the event.
