It will really be an Upgrade if better than Ronald Jackson Everybody seems to be excited about the new recruits. That's an annual trend for us. Get overly excited and optimistic. Let's hope that Coach Jones got good deals and will bring smoke to the conference on OUR way out of the DOOR. I may have misunderstood the coach at the AAF meeting, when he advised us that help was coming in the form of a big man. I thought he said a 6-9 freshman (?) out of DC had been signed. Maybe that was a recruit for a rival school, and I confused it with our school or maybe it was wishful thinking. Hopefully, one of these recruits can perform as well as or better than Ronald Jackson. Jackson's all around game was way better than anybody on the team. He could defend, rebound, shoot the three, shoot free throws and was a devastating scorer around the basket.

i need to see a lot more video to conclude we've signed an upgrade in talent. the limited amount of video i've seen on quentin jones does not convince me that he's as good or better than ron jackson, that's a very tall order to fill. but again, i have not seen enough video on him to be sure. but i do think he'd be an excellent complement to harry morrice.
robinson's video was limited as well, cannot draw a conclusion about his game either, at least not based solely on the video i've seen. however, i will say he looks a bit like andre jackson...

Jackson's all around game was way better than anybody on the team. He could defend, rebound, shoot the three, shoot free throws and was a devastating scorer around the basket. One thing we have to remember. The Ron Jackson who came here from a Florida JUCO is not the same Ron Jackson who is basically a G-League level player. He developed & grew into that player over 2 years. Quintin doesn't look to be athlete that Ron is. But Ron has a max vert of over 40 inches... very few athletes will be close to that. What Quintin does better than Ron did at JUCO was shoot from the outside. Quintin is more of a mix betwee Ron and Davaris McGowens in that regard. What Coach Jones did say at that meeting was that a) you're not going to find a Ron Jackson every year and b) you have to be able to coach to match the talent that you're able to bring in. And we're not done. The fact that we're getting commits with the extended dead period is a good thing, IMO.

Ronald Jackson Continued to develop when he arrived. He had a pretty good skill set when he arrived. I assumed that's why he was recruited. He was mature enough to continue to work on his game. I'll evaluate the recruits when I see them on the floor in Corbett.

...I still don't think these guys' games (Jackson and Langley) blossomed until Jones became the head coach. It's hard to be 1st-team anything when the team's only scoring 40-50 points a game.

That was the first thing I noticed, that could really be his doppelganger, lol LOL... Dre & Jerm definitely favor each other. One significant difference... Dre is really 6-3, 175. Jerm is listed at 6-5, 215. And that shows up in his game, where Jerm's plus skill is mid-range-to-rim scoring. As a freshman this year, Jerm shot almost 55% from 2-pt range, which is excellent for a wing. He has the strength and agility to operate in traffic and make plays with that lefty shot. Even in JUCO, Dre only shot 43% from 2-pt range. www.westlacollegeathletics.com/sports/mbkb/2019-20/bios/robinson_jeremy_0ntyThe other benefit for Jerm is that he got a lot of playing time as a freshman, which will be good experience. He'll have 3 years with us and will fit right in behind Ty Lyons without too much drop off in 2020-21. That's important.

A&T has signed 6-7 MD-ES grad transfer forward Tyler Jones who sat out this past year. Jones gave us major fits in 2017-18 in Bobby Collins' last year as head coach & averaged 12 ppg that year (15 ppg in MEAC play).

If I had to guess, this may be more about a kid who was looking more to get away from home (with a lot of options) maybe reconsidering with everything that's been going on. We'll see.

My instinct tells me Jones, being the recruiter that he is, would not have extended the offer at this very moment if we weren't already seriously in the final conversation. I hope things fall our way. Mason reminds me of Austin Witter but way more athletic.

coach jones must really like "lefties". robinson is a lefty and mason is a lefty, they'd go well with ty lyons cuz lyons is a lefty too. lol, don't know if i've ever seen a lineup on the court that had "3" lefties playing together at the same time...
