I swear you all are like those people that carry baggage into their next relationships always saying what happened when you were with your last partner and making the current partner suffer. The era of 2004-2010 has permanently scarred you all. This isn't the error of Fobbs, Lee, Small. this is NOW and We are as good as advertised. We are the Alabama and Clemson of Black college football. Since the BCS College football playoffs have been in existence Alabama has been in everyone Clemson has been in all but one. Since the Celebration bowl has been in existence A&T has been in all but one (not to mention we have won every CB we've played) and that one year we were not there we was in the FCS playoffs. This was coach Washingtons first year as a head coach and he still went 10-2. Accept it. Live in it. Cherish this new relationship and stop looking back, and enjoy the Golden era of Aggie Football. In Earl we Trust of Aggie Athletics. Say it again for the people in the back: "THE ERA OF 2004-2010 HAS PERMANENTLY SCARRED YOU ALL!" THANK YOU!!! I am glad someone said it.

I believe that Southern mentioned playing us because we are definitely TOP DAWG nowadays. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing us enter into a 4-year home-and-home agreement with them right now, BUT the drawbacks are:
- Baton Rouge is 857 miles from Greensboro;
- With the Celebration Bowl and MEAC-SWAC Challenge still in-effect, some top tier ADs are wary of adding more MEAC-SWAC regular season games;
I think Earl might tell them to catch us in Atlanta in December.
The series that I would love to see us resume is our series with Tennessee State. That was a very electric series when I was at 'Tee back in the late '70s/early '80s. (That's who we were playing in War Memorial Stadium on the day that the Nazi-Klan Shootout took place.) I think that both schools would benefit.

Payouts, media exposure, competition level, and travel costs will largely be the determining factors in how our future out of conference football schedules will shake out.

That 857 miles from Greensboro along with what A1 stated above is what leads me to believe the only way we play Southern is in the 2021 MEAC / SWAC Challenge (assuming FAMU / Grambling are in the 2020 game). We are contracted to play at Duke again in 2021 so we will see.

They are starved for HBCU opponents, our SOS would be good with them, they travel, Nashville is nice, and I want to close the series gap. I noticed during that time we would end the season playing them a lot so I wondered if we were trying to create a rivalry. What made the series electric?

All this Southern talk is a result of a slow news day and the HBCUGameday staff trying to generate some clickbait.
Nothing more, nothing less.

When I was in school, we had a pretty tight athletic relationship with them. Not only were we playing them in football, but Don Corbett and Ed Martin (an Aggie) were locking horns in basketball, too, so the fan bases were very familiar with each other. I attended the football and basketball games in both Nashville and Greensboro, and the pregame and postgame football crowds seemed fired up (as a student I was working Sports Information for Joe Faust, so I wasn't able to be in the stands for the football games).
I would have to believe that gate receipts in both Greensboro and Nashville were pretty good during that time, too.

Yeah as long as the Celebration Bowl is alive and well (and paying out big bucks) we don't want to diminish the product by potentially playing the same team during the season. I think Tennessee State is the best option for us. For a long time they were the top dogs in HBCU football and most HBCU fans rarely see them compete since they moved to the OVC. I'd love to see a home and home game with them every year.
