From the article: ELON — While the Colonial Athletic Association is expected to announce Friday that it will suspend football and not compete as a league this fall, Elon hopes to forge ahead. The Times-News has learned that the Phoenix is making plans to play football this fall and will pursue an independent schedule, with the conference allowing its members to form such alternate paths amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the CAA’s 12 football teams aren’t expected to play this fall, multiple sources around the league said, though the Harrisonburg (Va.) Daily News-Record reported Thursday night that conference power James Madison intends to and already is working on reconstructing its schedule.

Ask yourself, would you want your kid male or female participating in this potential deadly environment just to satisfy a few selfish people. If I had confidence in the COVID protocols and medical support and my kid wanted to play, Yes. Hundreds of parents sent their sons and daughters to campus two weeks ago because they believed in the school's ability to keep their kids safe. Nothing has changed about A&T's preparedness. Come on Maxell man Really ! You will have confidence in the COVID 19 protocols ; Man please there is no such confidence to be had in a stop gap effort by our medical support Units. None of this Social distancing, Masking is not a guarantee to stop community spread when dealing with 19 a pathogen that continues to morphe and mutate . The only true way to contain or eventually control 19 is to shut down all activities period. I warned everyone sometime ago about community spread now here we are . Believe this or not the longer 19 victims continue to mount; 19 will not be the only problem that is going to befall us . Don't give 45 what he wants by opening up to soon and giving 45 the right to enact the National Security Emergency declaration . So you can tell your grand kids that you gave this country away and endangered millions of lives so that you could watch a dog on football game and follow the orders of a Madman by opening up to soon . That would make for and interesting conversation around the dinner table .

Therein lies our disagreement. Honestly dont think your solution is feasible.
I would love to have a hidden camera track some of you guys around for one week and chronicle all the different places yall are willing to risk your health to attend. It all sounds like great advice on a message board, but the application in real life is a different story.

I have my Rottweilers, horses and a mini shooting range on 12 Acres with a pond . I'm cool being me . But you can make all the excuses for playing this season a long with your risk factors .You want to stop or control 19 you have to shutdown the availability of contacting the spread; and opening up to soon and playing a season modified or not is only going make things worse and put more people at risk .

Hypothetically speaking and the stars align where the 1. MEAC allowed us to play as Independent, 2. The Big South plays ball in the fall & allowed us to fill in Hampton's Spot, 3. we filled in holes with other independent schools, here's what we could be looking at: SEPT - 5 @ James Madison
- 12 @ Liberty
- 19 @ NDSU
- 26 - BYE-
OCT
- 3 @ Elon
- 10 vs Gardner-Webb
- 17 vs Campbell
- 31 @ Kennesaw State
NOV - 7 vs Monmouth
- 14 @ N. Alabama
- 21 vs Charleston Southern
Whew Chile! Do we want all that smoke???

I suspect that The Big South has cancelled or is about to cancel. Before most of the discussion about them playing fall sports, one would have thought that those making up possible playing schedules, would have asked the question, how can a full member such as Hampton cancel its season?

It's called making a decision as to the importance of your mission to educate , protect your students , school personnel and community . This is about lives not entertainment .

That's the first question that came to mind when I heard about the Pirates canceling their fall sports. Shouldn't that be a conference-wide decision? I bet that raised some eyebrows across the BSC.

Saab, I know why they cancelled their season, and it's an admirable decision. However, because some on the board have come up with scheduling scenarios, (see above postings) for FCS conferences to schedule games. The question is, can a team within a conference just cancel their season without the consent of the conference membership? Wouldn't this cause some disruption in the other members' schedule? That's why I believe that the BS may be considering not playing any sports in the fall.
