I wonder why we have problems picking games up. I am still kind of upset we didnt have a 12th game last year but hey i guess it was the CB game. That's what happens when you basically dominate your region . Winning makes You have to step out of your region to find quality OOC games .

Shaw will be the first game. They aren't playing Hampton anymore.

One day last week, I did a random search of FCS programs in NC and in neighboring states to see if any had an opening on Sept. 05. From what I could tell, only East Tennessee State did. However, they are also looking for a 5th home game like we are. So, although I won't like it personally, it is looking like we will play a D-II school on Sept. 05.
I am on record as stating that in Hilton/Broadway (now Washington) I trust. I frowned on us not scheduling that 12th game last season but I rolled with it and the season outcome turned out like we wanted. I will frown if we schedule a D-II opponent this season but I will roll with it - again trusting Hilton/Washington. I just cannot help but think that SC State's victory vs. D-II Miles College kept them out of the the FCS playoffs and I don't want that to be us if we falter in the MEAC this upcoming season.
Yes, the Celebration Bowl and the FCS playoffs are no where in the same atmosphere. Despite that, playing in the postseason should ALWAYS be the goal and we have a 5 year active streak of postseason play.
I'm going to wait for the schedule release patiently and hope that the Spring Game date is released with it.

With the heavy weights we already have on our schedule, I don't mind adding a DII team as our first game. Someone to tuneup on before hitting the road to Liberty and South Dakota State. Of course, if we lose those games and limp through the MEAC schedule by losing a game or two, that DII game could come back and bite us in the butt. That said, if we don't take care of our conference business this year, we need our butts kicked!

Playing a D2 needs to be a last gasp option. Remember we don't receive any points toward the MEAC tiebreaker for playing a D2. Playing a D2 could literally cost us a CB berth.

Duke , Unc, And Nc State all drop their schedules today . Why is it so hard for us to schedule? I mean at least a date if not a time.

We are having trouble finding the 11th game because we need the revenue from our home gate. I believe we’d have only 3-4 home games otherwise and we aren’t hosting the Aggie Eagle this year. Not to mention, our game with SC State is GHOE so yeah. Tough sledding. We won’t have this issue in 2021 though.

If Hampton is not playing Shaw, why not call Hampton?

If Hampton is not playing Shaw, why not call Hampton? They probably want a home game just like we do.

Still wouldn't hurt to call..... Just checked Western Carolina's 2020 schedule. It's barren.....may wanna give the Catamounts a call.

Either is a viable option with a slight edge to Hampton. Sign a 2 game home/home series, opportunity to beat up on the Big South conference/opponent, a familiar foe, Hampton will likely bring the band, it is a labor day so expect a bump in attendance, could bill it is a labor day classic and have some activities (like a band battle), if I recall correctly GSO folks would come out for Hampton games when they were in the conference, negates some of the attendance impact of scheduling SCSU for GHOE instead of a regular weekend, and my personal petty- get closer to evening up the series.

Both teams may be looking for home games this year plus, we can't return favor for either one until 22 at the earliest. BTW: We've been in communication with WCU for a home & home series prior to this point. I'm unsure if we are talking to them again.

Speaking of 2022, isn't that the year we are rumored to play in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Atlanta vs. Southern?
