I think the NCAA has been pretty lenient on medical redshirts in recent years, especially if you miss the entire season. Kylil Carter was able to get one and I believe Isaiah Hicklin is currently trying to get a year back. It's all in the wording when you're applying for M-R-S . But we will know in time if he is ready when he hits the field .

I doubt he plays this season. He didn't have surgery until late Nov.

We are still 6 months away from the start of fall camp.
How soon before Mac can start running again?

He maybe jogging in the next month or so but it usually 6-9 months before you can start planting on the knee and change direction.

no need to rush this dude back too soon. he's a speed guy who relies on his agility, his ability to cut and change directions. so its vitally important that he allows his knee to heal properly. the worst thing he could do is come back too soon and "aggravate" that injury...

But it should not matter if he was RedS his freshmen year or not. Mac only has two more year of Eligibility weather he go Grad or not his 5 years is up.

There is a such thing as a medical redshirt. A lot of guys get a 6th year.

A lot of guys get a 6th year. #The player must have competed in no more than 30% of the season or four games, whichever is greater to receive Medical Redshirt. Did he not get hurt in the Bethune C. game hence he is not eligible since there was only three games left.

They're speaking of Mac possibly taking a medical redshirt in 2019 and getting a waiver for a 6th year in 2021. Frankly, I don't see Mac taking a 6th year. If he has the expected bounceback in 2020, he needs to head straight to the NFL Draft in 2021.
