Remember Joe Bunn , maybe 6-5 could not wow anyone above the rim but could play ... Unpleasant memories of days gone by. That was at the end of A&T's rein as a talented basketball program. Sad thing is that Bunn moved on with Capel to another program. Had personal problems at new home. However, the guy was an outstanding talent who knew how to play in the paint.

Sad thing is that Bunn moved on with Capel to another program. Had personal problems at new home. However, the guy was an outstanding talent who knew how to play in the paint. The 1996-97 squad with Kimani Stewart, Jonathan Richmond & Derrick Powell was quite talented. They pushed a great Coppin St. squad to OT in the MEAC championship. Then the wheels fell off after that. But yes, Joe Bunn had very good post skills. Had a pretty solid pro career as well. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_BunnMoby is a little bigger than Bunn. I don't want to put the Bunn comparison on the kid. But based on who we have returning in the frontcourt... if Moby can give us 10-12 minutes, 3-4 pts and a few rebounds a game in 2019-20, he's a big add as a freshman.

Dang Bunn was still playing overseas 5 Years ago. And quiet as kept... we are still producing our fair share of pros now. Bruce Beckford, Ahmad Abdullah, Eliel Gonzalez, Davaris McGowans and Devonte Boykins have all spent some time playing overseas. I can almost guarantee that Ib Sylla, Qua Copeland, Milik Gantz & Terry Harris will get shots overseas this summer. Aaren Edmead has a decent chance. Coach Joyner's overseas experience helps out with that.

Thought McGowans might return to football... he had an offer from schools which included Southern Ms as a 2 or 3 star DE recruit

I'm thankful that it hasn't limited him from going pro in basketball. Really good dude who finished his degree this summer... proud of him.

Oh... you never knew? McGowans has one leg shorter than the other. It's why he had a prospensity to hit the floor and have soreness in his hip. That and his height were likely the factors for why he was available for us. His ability was never an issue.

I read somewhere that his middle name is Ilene. I always wondered why he would have what sounds like a girl's name, but now it makes sense.

A big get for us. Shayne Scruggs will be a 4-year guy in 6-8 225 who has range and is a finisher . I see him as a smooth 4 or a versatile 3 with range who create his own shot and can handle the ball on the break in the open court. Elon, UNCG, Quinnipiac, St. Louis, Alabama (before Norfolk), Coastal Carolina and VCU were showing a lot of interest.
