N.C. A&T back on track with 35-10 win at Bethune-Cookman By Zach Dean Special to the News & Record Oct 19, 2018
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — N.C. A&T’s season is alive and well. One week after blowing a 21-6 halftime lead to Florida A&M, the Aggies rebounded with a convincing road win over Bethune-Cookman, dominating the Wildcats 35-10 to keep their Celebration Bowl hopes alive. Quarterback Lamar Raynard was nearly perfect for A&T (6-2, 3-1), throwing for 189 yards and a pair of scores, while Jah-Maine Martin rushed for 118 yards. Both B-CU (4-4, 2-2) and A&T entered the game tied for second in the MEAC, with the loser all but eliminated from conference title contention. “We had to finish,” A&T head coach Sam Washington said. “We preached it all week. I don’t care what you do, you must finish. I thought they finished today.” For the rest of the story:www.greensboro.com/sports/ncat/n-c-a-t-back-on-track-with--/article_35b8b4e7-6459-5cfa-a5d0-e3d3c11ae432.html

Aggies Keep Postseason Hopes Alive, Beat B-CU Courtesy: NC A&T Sports InformationSophomore Jah-Maine Martin had a career game with 118 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Photo by Erin E. Mizelle Courtesy: NC A&T Sports Information DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 20, 2018) – Hold on before placing that wreath on North Carolina A&T’s season. All-MEAC receiver Elijah Bell looked like Elijah Bell. N.C. A&T’s defense looked like N.C. A&T’s defense and the Aggies once again looked dominant in a 35-10 win over the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats Saturday evening at Daytona Stadium. N.C. A&T (6-2, 3-1 MEAC) kept their postseason hopes intact with their fourth straight win over the Wildcats. Whether that postseason opportunity comes from advancing to the annual Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl or an NCAA FCS playoff bid is still to be determined considering there are three games remaining on the regular-season schedule and the Aggies have no room for error. But at least on Saturday, the Aggies played like a team with its season on the line. They also played like a team who refocused after their 1-point loss to Florida A&M at BB&T Stadium last week. It did not hurt that Bell looked healthy after a season where nagging injuries have hampered him. For the rest of the story:www.ncataggies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=24500&ATCLID=211776867

FAMU playing Morgan St off the bye is a good and bad thing. Morgan came off of a bad matchup against Howard because they spent too many resources accounting for Caylin Newton's running and got gashed by the Howard RBs. Newton had one of his worst days passing in his career at Morgan (213 yds, 0 TDs, 2 INTs), but Howard pulled out the win. Morgan is a better matchup against FAMU because of their CB play and Ryan Stanley not being able to run as much with the back injury. If Morgan can generate any offense in Tallahassee, this could definitely be a trap game for FAMU coming off the bye week. We'll see what they're made of next weekend.

Update: Howard survives at Morgan St. 35-26. If Howard wins out (SCSU, FAMU, at Norfolk) and we win out (Norfolk, SSU, NCCU)... we could be going to the CB. That would force either a 3-way tie between us, FAMU and Howard, or a two-way tie with us & Howard. We're not in the driver's seat, but we gotta keep playing. Aggie77 posted this (below) as did I. A three way tie involving Howard won't get us to Atlanta if we win out. Howard would go to Atlanta if they beat FAMU and end up tied with one loss with either FAMU or us and FAMU. If we win out, we will likely earn a at-large bid to FCS playoffs. If we win out AND FAMU loses twice, we are Atlanta bound regardless of what Howard does due to our schedule. Keep in mind, FAMU's home game vs. SC State does NOT count in the conference standings due to Hampton's departure. So, they have 3 countable conference games to left to play. If they win 2 of them, they are in Atlanta. Lose 2 of them and we win out, we are in Atlanta. Aggie77 post is below: I only see one possibility of a three way tie scenario that includes FAMU and Howard, it would also include A&T as the outsider. The tiebreaker system is use to determine which team will receive the conference Automatic Qualifier for the NCAA Playoffs or the specified Bowl game, whichever is applicable. Two-Team or Multiple-Team Tie – If the tied teams played each other, head-to-head competition will be used to determine the representative. For multiple ties, head-to-head record vs. all teams tied (regardless if all tied teams played each other). 1.)If a tie still exists, then the following shall be used: A. six (6) points for a win against a Division I-(FBS) team; B. Count four (4) points for a non-conference Division I-(FCS) win; C. Subtract (4) points for a loss against a non Division I opponent; The team with the highest point total shall be the Automatic Qualifier for the NCAA Playoffs or the specified Bowl game, whichever is applicable. 2.)If a tie still exists, then the following shall be used: A. Teams with the highest Sagarin ranking. B. Coin Toss by Commissioner Howard: 1-0 FAMU: 1-1 A&T: 0-1

Any word on why Raynard was out in the 2nd half? I was at the game and even though he looked fine on the side line, I noticed he did not have his helmet. That usually means concussion protocol.
On another note (as others have said), I just don't understand the conservative play. We gave BCU a break in the 3rd quarter. Other than the kicking game, we were completely dominant in the 1st half. Once they let Carter roll out and throw up field, it really opened the offense up again. I really feel like the OC got his marching orders at half time. We should have easily put up 50!

I don’t really know if I feel better. There’s something wrong with how we play our 2nd halves. That was some uninspiring football for the last 30 minutes of the game. I’m glad our 1st half was dynamic....but great teams (with great coaches) play 60 minutes. The best offensive play of the 2nd half was Akevious Williams getting hurt. If not for that, the 2nd half would’ve been a fistfight. We won....but I can’t really say we’ve gotten over the proverbial hump. We got a bye, garbage teams in Norfolk and Savannah before playing Central. I just want to see a full game of excellence. With all the talent we have, that ain’t asking too much. We need to be getting better and better every week. I’m still not convinced we are.... As under Coach Broadway as it is under Coach Washington A&T seems to lose focus in the second half . A&T has yet to put together and play a complete game under either coach . The question is why ? It's like they lose focus in the 2nd half . One day I would like to see them put together a complete game on both sides of the Ball .

I thought that might be in play, which is why I said we COULD be going to ATL if we and Howard won out instead of saying we WOULD be going to ATL. But thanks for the detail on it. It definitely spells things out more clearly.

And that was less an example of us slowing down than them stepping up. And Broadway never lost to teams we were supposed to beat.. except NCCU! Hey I know it's early in Washington's head coaching career and he's got a lot to learn. Hopefully he learns quickly.

A 1 loss three way tie of FAMU, Howard, and A&T will result in the Aggies going to Atlanta via MEAC multi-team tie break system.
A&T wins the tie break due to FBS win (6pts), 2-FCS non conf win (8pts), giving us a total of 14 pts, the other 2 schools dont cohe close to that point total

Delaware St. doesn't really tell you anything because they're so young. That will be a shootout. But Howard is at home.
