How much time does he need to get a pension ? Maybe three years? I believe a player has to participate in a certain number of games per year. And probably remain on the roster.

And probably remain on the roster. 5 years as long as he is listed on the roster as a active player whether he plays or not . So I think he is at 3 now I do not know if they count the taxi Squad . But he should be two years away that will give him 5 years . But he can't touch his pension until he hits his early sixties without taking a major hit .

Saabman FYI, Someone told me a few years ago that the five year requirement had changed. Check this for accuracy. "To be eligible for pension benefits in the NFL, a player must play for three years. (For a year to count for pension purposes, the player has to be on the roster for at least three games that year.) The player then earns credits for each season played that increase the amount of his pension."
