Yes, he's a game changer and even better news is "He's only a sophomore"...

My only question is how good Martin is at pass protection. I need to go back and study the film. But if he is adequate in that area, then I think he absolutely needs to be starting. I would give him 20-25 carries a game and reduce Cartwright to around 10. This comment was met with a ton of criticism at the time. But fo real I don't see any problem with 50-50 carries at this point. Alternate series. Go with the hot hand. Whatever. Maine's just way too good already to only get 10 carries a game. Opposing teams can't deal with his burst.

Anybody with decent football knowledge can see Martin is the best running back on this team.
However Cartwright has actually worked hard to improve his game since Martin has emerged, so we really have a nice one-two punch right now.
There are just some 15 yards runs that Cartwright will have they would probably be 60 yard touchdowns if Martin was carrying the ball. Cartwright just doesn't have that third gear in his toolbox.

Neither one is Cohen so I don't mind equal touches. Just feed the hot hand at the time and/or know when to sub at the right moment.

I would think the tiebreaker would be which running back caught the ball better coming out of the backfield ... but Barnette does not call many screen passes to the RBs so that is really moot.

I wish he did, those screens to Cartwright in the Championship game were crucial to our win. We haven't use that play all year. Imagine Martin get those throws in the open field.

you also have to consider "ball security". he hasn't done it lately, but earlier this year martin had trouble holding on to the ball...

I agree with the above however if it’s 4th and one and I am going forward I am giving the ball to Cartwright . So as you said they are the perfect 1-2 punch

I dont think Martin has lost a fumble this season. He has laid the ball down a couple of times, but I believe we always recovered it.

What comments are you referring to?
I dont think anyone here has made a negative remark about Cartwright on this entire thread.
