In all fairness, Rogers has not even been giving the opportunity to kick a PAT or FG this season and when he does mess up on a kickoff he is immediately pulled and Ruiz put in. I don't understand why he has not been giving the same opportunity, as if they are ok with not improving. It's hard for me to believe Rogers is nailing 45 yarders consistently in practice and they are still trotting out Ruiz, who I believe is just 2 for 7 on FG attempts this year. I think Ruiz is probably the best of the bunch ... but I am not sure that is good enough right now.

I am bout like Aggie One we need a Got dam specialize field goal/Punter Coach and we need to start recruiting hard good kickers its just that simple. Thrilla next time you are at the press can you question do we need to get us a coach that can grow these guys into good kickers. I thought the two kickers we had last year was horrible both return but I have not seen any growth with field or punter.

Do we have room in the budget for a dedicated special teams coach?

Neither Ruiz or Rogers appear to have particularly strong legs. I have yet to see a kickoff reach the endzone and every FG attempt more than 25 yards is a nail-biter. We might need to target this position next recruiting period. A&T needs to first find a Kicking Coach there is no way around it period . Just like all the other players they have positions coaches and need to be changed up so do kickers . You can not just relay on what the kickers learned in high school or at a JC. Also if A&T is not going to invest in a Kicking Coach there best bet is to recruit a kicker from the Junior College ranks or pick up a transferring kicker from the FBS ranks because cause there are always a large number of kickers looking to transfer but no one looks at that list .

Hmm... I think when we add to our staff in the Winter, adding someone who’s coached FCS kickers should be a priority.

But they have a back round or have some type of working knowledge when it comes to kickers alongside with the other positions that they coach . Kickers are like distance runners in track they have a special mindset, you have to standing what makes them tick and what motivates them .It takes a special mind or personality to coach kickers . Some may not fully understand where I'm coming from but it's only my opinion .

I think it would be best to send our guys to kicking camps. That would be the only way to enhance their skills without hiring a specialized coach.

I assume just like you can't coach speed, you cant coach leg strength. We might've simply whiffed on scouting or the current special teams lineup for kicks.

First of all, you can coach speed.
I might not be able to make you "fast", per se, but I can develop your form and mechanics to make you faster.
Same with kicking. There are probably ways you can develop a kicker's plant leg and drive process to deliver more force to the ball.

A good example is The Kid ( Tarik Cohen) running with the Aggie Track team " they taught me proper foot placement when running & proper mechanics) . If A&T is serious about their kicking game they will have to invest in a coach part-time , Full- time or sometype of consultant there is no way around it .

I’m starting to think our woes have to do with our coaches. Adding an experienced WR and Special Teams coach are priority. Perhaps hiring a dedicated QB coach could also be effective. But that all comes down to the budget which Durham May give insight into soon.

Is Noel's problem physical or mental. As far as field goals and PATs he's got the physical ability but I think his nerves are shot! And I don't know how you can coach up a field goal kicker that's lost his confidence.
Nevermind hiring a kicking coach next year...spend that time and money recruiting a big time field goal kicker. You can't tell me that all these other HBCU teams have field goal coaches so let's get some talent first...then coach him up!

I have no doubt if we coached this kid up properly he could become automatic. he has the leg. Blame the kicking coach or lack thereof
