In my opinion, JT is the biggest personnel loss for this team. Even more so than Brandon Parker.
He was everywhere on the field making plays and seemed to be the quarterback of the defense.
Those are some huge shoes to fill.

It's pretty cool to see Jacksonville State giving us a little respect on their message board. I guess we're progressing in the right direction. Keep letting the Iron sharpen Iron lol It's all up to our coaches now to get it done. where did you see they was giving us respect

They've responded positive on both. In my eyes that's respect as opposed to the normal "how many minutes before we pull the starters and show mercy" on the poor HBCU response.

I saw one report that was comparing us to Tuskegee college who they have played in the past. No disrespect but we not Tuskegee

Y'all do realize we played a home and home with them in the mid-90s when they first transitioned from d-2 right? We're 0-2 against them.

We're 0-2 against them. 1994 and 1995, our overall record for those seasons were 6-5 and 4-7 (both years we beat D2 Central and Winston). So we were 4-5 and 2-7 against D1 competition. We are both very different programs now.

Entirely. We didn't even have a field house back then. Their fight song was Dixie.

I graduated in '96 so it was during my time around campus.
I remember a lot of people went to the game in '94 thinking we were playing Jackson State and being sorely disappointed when a wishbone running team from Alabama that played Dixie showed up and beat us. We scored late to get within a touchdown but the kicker didn't kick onsides and they ran out the clock. Bill threw the kicker under the bus after the game and said everybody got the message that it was supposed to be an onside kick except him.
The next year I listened to the game on the radio. They just kept making first downs and playing Dixie all day. We must have dropped at least 10 passes in that game. Guys were open left and right (at least according to the radio crew) but it was wet and the guys weren't great at grabbing passes in the first place. I think Milton Shaw (r.i.p.) had a pretty good game but he couldn't do it all alone.
And that is my memory of our two game history with Jacksonville State as placed in the middle of a thread about our projected defensive depth chart.
My high school head coach played nose guard for them in the 70s, btw.
