This is what happens when you suffer from a lack of vision (westcoastaggie, blackie, others ...) and are just happy with the status quo. Other people/schools will eventually fill the void and pass you by. ------------ OSU Develops New Strain Of Turf Grass; NFL Shows Interest In Purchasing Monday, July 15th 2019, 4:55 PM CDT By: Karl Torp CALUMET, Oklahoma - A special type of drought resistant grass created in Oklahoma, is getting attention from around the world. That includes several teams from the NFL. Scientists at Oklahoma State University announced the creation of “Tahoma 31” last year. It’s best application maybe in sports stadiums and golf course, because of its recovery strength. Tahoma 31 is OSU’s 7th turf grass creation. “Bermuda goes typically to the Oklahoma-Kansas line and it won’t thrive, typically north of that line. Tahoma 31 pushes that north,” said Brad Sherry of Sod by Sherry, who has exclusive rights to sell Tahoma 31 in the area. Sherry showed News 9 the acres of Tahoma 31 that’s been growing in Calumet for the past year. Sherry said in two weeks he’ll have 24 acres for sale, with more being grown. Meanwhile, Tahoma 31 creators have been speaking to many athletic associations and groups about implementing the grass.
This summer, the University of Arkansas will have the first football stadium with Tahoma 31.
The United States Golf Association has visited Stillwater to learn more Tahoma 31. “You are going to save 20% in water. I see that being a big deal for municipalities and all golf courses,” said Sherry. www.news9.com/story/40791263/osu-develops-new-strain-of-turf-grass-nfl-shows-interest-in-purchasing

There is no reason A&T shouldn't have developed something like this years ago. However, as the old saying goes: "comfort is the enemy of innovation."
If you never even acknowledge the problem (i.e: "if it aint broke, dont fix it"), you will never be motivated enough to create a solution.

Umm... if we could develop a strain of hypoallergenic peanut, our AG school could do something similar. It’s just takes collaboration between Athletics and Ag. Do we have a horticultural researcher that specializes in turf?

Do we have a horticultural researcher that specializes in turf? If not, we are about to have money in the budget to hire one:

But once again, resources have never been the problem. It is a matter of having a vision and the desire to improve.

Years ago I read an article about the A&M College for the White Race (NC State) doing R&D on some hardy stadium grasses. Why haven't we partnered with them to develop this special grass? Hell we've partnered with UNCG on every friggin thing to help them... why not created a partnership that helps us? This is what they have now: Tifway 419 Bermuda Grass (sidelines are artificial turf)

Stay off the grass 😅. Seriously though with the weather being in a Spring like mode some horticultural enhancements should have been given some serious consideration like aerate the field followed by a different type of grass seeds as well as some Potash for root development with an application of nitrogen in early spring Lime could be applied as it has a seven month window for results.

Bornthrilla has questioned my vision about grass and other topics. He has questioned others as well because he thinks he is smarter and has more wisdom than others.
The NFL has 32 teams across America. Out of the 32 teams 23 teams have natural, "real" grass in their stadiums.
Brief summation as to why more pro NFL stadiums have "real" grass as opposed to artificial "turf", asphalt, cement or base dirt:
Real grass is cooler than artificial "turf".
Real grass provides better traction which in this instance is "better" than great traction provided by artificial "turf" which means the "turf" has no give.
Turf fields cause more serious injuries like ACL and MCL tears.
My and other poster's vision have been questioned by Bornthrilla because he thinks he is always right on any and every topic discussed.
The powers to be at T visions seem to coincide with mine and others who don't see a purpose for a "turf" field.
A lot of people as BT want "turf" simply to keep up with the Joneses. Too me and others, football is a sport made to be played on "grass" not artificial "turfs" of all types and styles for various reasons mentioned above.
My vision BT is not to be jealous of schools with "turf" but a vision to provide a traditional real grass field that is safer for our student athletes.

Just for clarification, I am smarter than the rest of yall. Much smarter.
Also, I prefer field turf, but I would settle for a grass solution that doesn't turn goldish brown in mid November. Hell, I would even be happy with green paint at this point. Anything but golden brown.
But let me once again reiterate ... I am smarter than you. That is undeniable.

Who is yall?
Whether it is 23 or 19 the majority of the NFL teams play on grass. Evidently we both used different articles to come to this conclusion.
You and a few others are not not really concerned about our student athletes health and welfare. Yall's only concern is that the grass looks green on tv.
Ask Chancellor Martin and AD Hilton why they have not switched over to "turf". Evidently they are not concerned about the grass being brown, tan or whatever on tv or in person.
I think they are way smarter than you Bornthrilla and they might be smarter than me.
Yall need to quit trying to keep up with Norfolk and other schools that have "turf" and green grass.
We are winners on the gridiron and they are not. That is what counts Mr. Know It All.
