Just so everyone is aware... Femi is a free agent who can move upon his graduation this summer. Thank you to Femi for helping to reshape the culture of A&T Men's Basketball.

This absolutely sucks....no other way to say it. We're gonna have to agree to disagree on the "reshaping the culture." One year isn't enough time for me to tell if Aggie basketball culture has been reshaped.
Women's basketball culture HAS been reshaped. The men.....I just can't say that......I hope you're right, but simply not enough data points for me to come to that conclusion.

I agree this sucks, I know this sounds selfish but, I thought next season Femi would have been able to play his true position which is power forward instead of center. That definitely would have been advantage Aggies. That 6'10 guy with an weight training off-season would be the center and the rest is history. Dayum!

Lartey is gone as well...... Pratt is gone too.......
Boykins's eligibility is done Keyes's eligibility is done Mcgowans's eligibility is done
I can't front......a playa is worried about next year bigtime. If anyone has new information to convince me otherwise, I'm more than eager to listen.........but this is ultra-concerning.

I kinda can understand him wanting to leave. Joyner and company did not really do a good job developing him on the offensive end. ' I can't honestly say that he was a better player at the end of the season than he was at the beginning.

That's where the offseason comes into play, when you can work on your deficiencies. Now I do believe it is imperative that the staff should tell Femi what his weaknesses are......and what they can do to strengthen those weaknesses to make him a better player. They've probably done that though.....at least I would have hoped. Nevertheless, A PLAYA IS WORRIED BIGTIME ABOUT 2019. Somebody tell me some good news to keep me from jumping off the ledge.

' I can't honestly say that he was a better player at the end of the season than he was at the beginning. Well, I think he has a lot of skills for a guy at his position so, the task became building the pieces around him. We got the guards, we had the center on the bench that needed to get stronger and the void was our long winged player that we recruited and that hustle/scrappy player which Keyes leaves.

So, the only players left are two point guards and an unproven 6-10 center??? Wonder if Olugobi will venture down Market Street or 40 East or 85 North or South. Perhaps he will see the need for his skills and leadership, and have a change of heart.

I think Femi's possible (probable) departure all comes down to the Sam Hunt factor.
When guys see a former teammate moving on to the penthouse of college basketball conferences and playing on national TV, it's no surprise they will also want to follow his lead.
The good news is that more players will work to graduate on time and thus help our APR. The bad news is that guys will graduate on time and look to head to greener pastures afterwards.

It's the nature of college basketball right now. A&T just has a talent (like other mid-majors) that's good enough to be wanted by upper mid-majors and Power 5 schools. His performances against Clemson, Georgetown and Va. Tech while he was healthy put him on the radar.
Thrilla's point about graduation & APR is legit. We still need to focus on graduating student-athletes because it's the right thing to do. But sometimes it comes at a cost.

Here's why mid-major schools fear having their star players poached after NCAA tournament Pete ThamelYahoo SportsMar 16, 2018, 8:19 PM“I feel like we’re the farm system for the high majors,” said Georgia State associate head coach Ray McCallum, the former head coach at Detroit, Ball State and Houston. “And with the grad transfers, it’s a different time and different climate.” sports.yahoo.com/harsh-reality-hitting-mid-major-schools-star-players-show-ncaa-tourney-001926275.htmlRichaud Pack in 2015. Sam Hunt in 2017. Femi (potentially) in 2018. We have to get used to being a transient model to flourish. That means putting the infrastructure in place to do that.

The comment about culture is actually not mine... those are Femi's words, starting at around 3:29. And Femi's success and 20 wins after being in no-man's land at Oakland is definitely more leverage in recruiting than what we had. So we are definitely in the midst of a culture shift in terms of how we have to view men's hoops, IMO. We just have to become more comfortable with the transient model.

I believe in order to counteract this recent trend, mid majors may begin, if possible not to RS players to reduce potential grad transfer scenarios. Now that I've typed that seems kind of selfish to do that but we're heading down a road of becoming like someone else said and NCAA farm system.
